hey guys, im looking for info on getting to Gnaraloo and then onto warroora/coral bay.
We want to go through Red Bluff, Gnaraloo area for the surf/fishing.
For anyone that knows this area.. what are the roads like around here? and do they link back up around Warroora to coral bay or do you have to backtrack to get back onto the main highway?
any info would be great. i bought a few map/track books for the region but the info on this section is sketchy at best.
also if anyone has any suggestions on MUST SEE's or MUST DO's anywhere along the coast from Kalbarri to Broome i'd love to hear them! never been up that way!
also also feel free to pm me any surfing spots i should seek out!
If it hasn't rained recently the road to gnaraloo is usually ok. Sometimes corrigated but a 2wd car can get there.
Can get more difficult with rain. And you have to back track to get to Coral Bay (i'm fairly sure).
Blow holes on the way to Gnaraloo can be spekky,
If you are going to Broome then go the extra and get up to Cape Leveque.
Absolutely stunning scenery and if you have a few dollars to spare then do a tag-along tour with a local through some of the "out of bounds" areas where you theoretically shouldn't go unless you are indigenous to the area...
There are a few Aboriginal townships up there that at best would be described as dysfunctional but well worth a visit anywhere along that coast. Watch for crocs but if you have a dog send it in the water first. By the look of your user name you are probably too young to want to send a wife or girlfriend in first 
80 Mile beach (north of Hedland and south of Broome) used to a great spot to visit but I haven't been there for twenty odd years and may not be so far off the "beaten track" anymore.

Cape Keredan (sp?) near the pardoo rd house - council run & cheap as chips to stay at. this forms the southern end of eighty mile beach, fishing can be worthwhile - caution - can have a few different nasties in the water/rock pools..... Steep Point (not in Pilbara - on the way up)- if you've got time on your hands. Murchison Off Road park (not in Pilbara - on the way up) - if you've got time on your hands. Francious (sp?) Peron Nat Park(not in Pilbara - on the way up) - okay artisian spa, spots where red sand meets white sand/blue ocean. Eighty Mile beach - caravan park use to have really good fresh rolls. Port Hedland - um............good enough for supplies & I'll leave it at that. Karratha/Dampier - hit the mermaid hotel for fish & chips - best feed I've had in WA, red dog memorial there, otherwise same as Hedland. Port Samson - use to be a decent pub/feed there 5yrs or so ago but from what I've heard from people I still know up that way its now over run with feral FIFO worse than Hedland/Karratha due to being a one pub town - defo avoid on weekends......Roebourne - keep driving. Then theres the inland pilbara regions & despite working/travelling/staying in various parts it still amazes me - shame its so far from the coast.
A little bit inland in The Pilbara are the likes of The Chichester Ranges, Millstream and lots of great little water holes. Karajini is a bit further in but also worth a visit....
I must make the effort and get up that way again -- it's been a lot of years since the last time
