Suzuki Jimny. 660cc of turbo POWER!!

Pfft. Great fun though. If you get it bogged ( I thought it impossible yet I did it) you can practically carry it out.

The fact that you're asking shows how well they sold in Aus. I remember back in the late 80's / early 90's when the local Lada yard first opened up. My dad looked at buying one and we went to test drive a brand new one...one seatbelt didn't work, an internal handle was hanging on by a screw & one of the mirrors fell off when he got out & shut the door - he decided on an older Range Rover instead!

Edit - btw, in that first vid, were they speaking English?

Actually for the record that was a suzuki..........and its not that hard, I did something similar crossing a creek in my old prado, had water up to the windscreen, if you keep momentum up, you shouldn't have too many problems. I kept the windows up, only little dribbles got in, was actually the last time the wife went off road with me, cant understand why...........

I had a Lada Niva for about four years in the late 90s. Not a bad little car. Quite tough. Its biggest issue was it was underpowered.

Drove across to WA in it. Took it on the dunes and beaches around Lancelin. A bit of damage underside but got it fixed in Perth.

They are pretty rare now. I saw one recently at a car show in Sydney.
