Hey guys, i dont want this to go to waste so I figured I would see if there was anyone who would be able to use it here.
approx 8kgs of resin polyester for PU board blanks.
its about $80 worth it be great if I can get a carton of sierra nevada pale ale ;)

It has a 6month shelf life, I have had it for a month and planned to make a few boards but im not going to get round to it now..

I realize this is my first post and apologies if this is the wrong section, it doesnt really fit in anywhere else and obviously with a shelf life i don't want it floating around going to waste!

Try posting this thread in the land sailing construction area, and add your location..... Might get some interest there

Absolutely, I figured my location would come up on my little avatar section.
Are you referring to the land boarding section or the general Sailing section??

Ahh, a beer drinker with quality tastebuds!

Sorry, can't help you get rid of the resin, just noticed the good brand of beer mentioned.

No need for apologies we're pretty loose here.

Most windsurfers use epoxy these days, but a few of us have found polyester makes a nice hard stiff wear resistant weedy. but 8kgs will make an awful lot of fins!!!

A lot of surfers still use polyester, somebody there may be interested.

BTW, shelf life can be extended if it's kept cool in glass or metal containers. The solvents seem to evaporate out of plastic.

I am planning to make a deck for my electric catamaran made of polycore sheet 19 mm, glassed from both sides
total size 2.4 x 6.0 m
so I need a lot of resin. If polyester is as good as epoxy I intended to use ?
Plus I going to build a deck on my just bought house boat from polycore again.
If your set 8 kg is complete with hardener?

19mm poly core with glass, particularly with polyester resin, will flex to bejeezus if is is that big. (or if it does not bend it will be damn heavy!!)

Firstly epoxy.

then think about a few laminates, not just core plus glass each side.

Im a surfer so I couldnt give you the best opinions in regards to anything other. But I am sure others will be able to help..

No hardener/catalyst but I can get some at roughly $5 ltr ( need about 2ml per 100ml of resin on an average day.

sorry , out of resin topic but what skeleton support do you Mark suggest for the poly core deck 2.4 x 6.0 ? Because whole lot will be enclosed in aluminium frame around I could obviously do supporting bars beneath every 1.0 m across and one long in the middle.
That will give 1.2 x 1.0
Is it worth to go for 25mm Polycore PP8H instead of 19mm?
