Going to be a huge finals series.
Sydney is drifting out slowly in the better (after today's belting at Kardinia Park), and Cats are tightening further.

Tom Hawkins is leading the Coleman. Pavlich & J Reiwolt haven't played yet though.

Markets have opened for Norm Smith.

A funny Norm Smith story...
Early in 2008 Pre-Seaon training at Geelong (Feb 2008), Tom Harley pulled Stevie J aside and demanded more effort on the training track. Stevie replies with, "Gee Tom, you don't win Norm Smith's in February!". Gold!

And the April 2012 Premiers were Carlton! Just went pear shaped in July & August!

Ladder Leaders by Rounds;
1 - Swans
2 to 10 - West Coast (Carlton were 2nd for a while, and drifted out to 9th place by Round 11)
11 - Pies
12 - West Coast
13 & 14 - Pies
15 to 21- Swans
22 to 23 - Hawks

Year I thought Crows came from 5th. Just checked, they came from 4th in 97, and 5th in 98.

This year, Hawks are strong, but a horrible betting return at about $2.25.

I think Hawks, Pies, or Cats are in the best form. I think Crows, Eagles & Swans will struggle to pull it off at The MCG. Just lacking a little bit of big stage experience, but often that doesn't matter too much if you are up and flying playing really well.

Roos & Freeo have their backs against the wall in Week 1...

In reality, all of the Top 8 teams are in decent form.

There's actually a big upside for The Suns. Hopefully G Ablett can hang on long enough. They say the first big problem will be fitting everyone into the Salary Cap. You put a big crop of 17 year olds though, and when they hit their prime at 23-27, they will all be similar age, looking for Market Value! A big bunch of First Round Draft Picks at 1 club!

I hope I am not right, but the Hawks, although look OK, wont win it. They just have one or two ugly cracks appear when least expected. Eagles showed that after 1/4 time Friday. Loved the young gun Brenan running down "I am a hero just ask me, Buddy and fleet foot Cyril in the last 1/4, was a choice bit of effort. Should have earned a fee kick when he nailed Buddy after Buddy took a bounce, but ball went out of bounds.
Reckon the Cats have too many hard nuts to crack if they get to the GF.
The Crows might give it a shake as well.
Pies are gone, couldn't handle the Eagles to any level.
Snyd-a-nee not enough spread to match it with the likes of Cats.
The rest, well you never know, one might just prevail and turn the betting inside out. Would like to see a team outside the top four crack it. Be good for that side to win and make good.

The thing was the eagles were blown apart in less than 25 minutes and threw the kitchen sink along with the one in the bathroom at the Hawkers but didn't get the chocolates .... Hawkers can score amazingly fast and copiously - enviously good spread of dangerous players
I think Crows & Swanees another year way yet and Collingwood????? well they have a couple of chances now - if North can get over the eagles and cats over freo well who knows
