Wow, looked interesting but I followed the link under the graph and eventually got to this page;

It doesnt seem to explain the huge ...massive jump from 2000 onwards...
Also that graph is only recording earthquakes 6 and over
so whilst more stations may detect the smaller earthquakes, this graph is showing the big ones.

If you follow this link, you'll see at the top:
"Selected earthquakes of general historic interest"
If you stay on the same site (earthquake.usgs.gov) and look at the "boring" earthquakes as well, you get this graph;
earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eqarchives/year/graphs.php
Scroll down and you'll that the average is pretty constant. Compare the two graphs, for example 1990, and your graph has 2 quakes happening. The site where the data comes from has 127.
Obviously 125 of these weren't of "General Historic Interest".
Check out the FAQ I originally posted, it sort of explains why more earthquakes are of interest than others, especially recently.
I think someone went to a lot of trouble to generate a graph that used the wrong data I'm afraid.

Unfortunately it is always the interpretation or manipulation of the data that gets people all excited. Especially when monitoring and reporting abilities improve.
I was in PNG when the AFP mobilised a heap of police to work with and help the PNG force get its act together about 5 years ago. After about 4 months the papers started publishing massive increases in reported crime since the AFP started. There was a huge outcry by some and calls to have them removed.
It turns out that the reason for this was that the first thing the AFP did was put in place a system where crimes could actually be reported....and locals felt comfortable doing so...
Unfortunately a high priority was corruption as well, and they were kicked out after their assistance was found to be unconstitutional....
I note PNG is now ranked as one of the most corrupt countries in the world...
ahaha go australia and not being on any fault lines, all earth quakes are gonna do to us is give us a little more swell. 
Maybe people think there are more earthquakes as there are more people.
1000 years ago an earthquake in Japan or Haiti would have knocked over a few huts and maybe a fatality from a piece of wood hitting someone on the head.
Nowdays we have big cities all over the place made out of concrete and brick and an earthquake is a big deal.

There are definitely more natural disasters since 1900. Have a look at the graph below. I have my own beliefs about why there is an increase in natural disasters but I certainly don't believe it has anything to do with the NWO (New World Order) and don't think we should blame it all on climate change either. Check the graph below, very interesting to see that all natural disasters, not just earthquakes have increased since 1900.

if HAARP is indeed the cause of many of these earthquakes, would that not make it relevant.
A possible cause.....my theory 
the earths interior is balanced with product and therefore acts
in a similar way to a fluid flywheel....until you remove the inner balance......
OIL, Water, Gas, Geothermal Fluids and Minerals in large quantity.

removals from the equation, cause disturbances to the surface crust and subsurface
stability.....therefore causing much movement of/in Teutonic plates.
