Pies are good to eat. I know they are full of offcuts, eyes, brains and whatever else is swept up off the meatworks floor.

My workplace often serves pies for lunch and they are yummy. So give the pies a second chance. Your stomach will thank you even if your heart doesn't.

Another disappointing year for the Collingwood Church (there were a few tears at the Radmac sub-congregation last night) . All that money and still no salvation.

The WCE and Dockers ringins watching at Chez Radmac certainly made sure that the pretence was made clear - usually hard being a WCE supporter among 3 Maggies supporters- at least Eagles and Dockers knew that this was a rebuilding year - it was a joy to watch the fundamnetal tenit of ABC (Carlton or Collingwood) be applied.

Did the sun come up this morning ...... will Didak have a mad Monday episode?

Saints to win

Collingwood are soft c+cks. The worst of the Victorian sides as in their profile and personalities involved with them.

Id like to see St Kilda get the flag, if it has to be a vic club

I dont think its Collingwood the team so much as "Collingwood the fans" that make them such a hated team.
with the draft and all that stuff, the team is as androgynous as any other team.
The fans are predominantly feral [}:)][}:)]

Go the Sainter's.
(I'm a WCE fan, but would like to see the Sainters get a second flag)

As soon as they start playing their fair share of away games (actually AWAY) then Collywobbles deserve to win the flag. Not likely if Fat Eddie continues to buy away games at home. Not a fair playoing fiels to me.

Would have liked to see the doggies vs Saints but Geeeelong vs Saints should be a corker.

Saints to win for the 1st time since everyone sat around the radio (10 points diff max i reckon).

Collingwood trying to buy away the curse of the travelling teams. At least that is one of my excuses for Freo this year

What do you reckon Funky?

Until all teams play equal games interstate then at this level of professional sport it is gonna be extremely tuff (and need buckets of luck) for a WA team to win the flag. Never gonna happen, until less than half of the clubs exist in Vic and vote that way. More likely to revert to the VFL logo from AFL before that happens too. Meanwhile profitable clubs continue to prop up the over represented Vic numbers and marketing excercises in NSW and Qld (Gold Coast).

At the level of competition these days, it was remarkeable that the Eagles made 2 GFs in a row in recent years. Don't think we will see that (from any interstate team) for a loooonnngg time. Maybe from Syders or Adelaide but even shorter flight travel is still far more detrimental to the players bodies/fitness than catching a bus accross Melbourne for an (ahem) 'away' game. Such (is life?) is the wear n tear of travel that it is a big hurdle by the time Sept rolls around.

If ya can't beat em join em though. Possibly the Eagles (and anyone else who can sell out a stadium ie Dockers/Adelaide) should follow Fat Ed's philosophy and 'buy' home games from the struggling clubs with a cut of the door profits?? Ha ha - pity we don't have that 80k seat venue now! LOL! Can't wait to get daylight saving tho.

Go the Saints for the GF!

BTW Reiwolt/Hayes or Chappy/Abelet (or another chrome-dome) for the medal?

Just for the record, Collingwood have a much better record on the road (interstate) than they do when they play in Melbourne.

This goes back over the past 3 years at least.

I reckon they enjoy the weight of expectation being lifted off by being away from Melbourne and the army of supporters, and they seem to dig in with a backs against the wall mentality when interstate.

They have done amazingly well with their personel, but don't have any real "blue chippers" when it comes to competing with the cats and the saints.

It's like beating a dead dog but heres it anyway.

Firstly pointing out the the MCG is Collingwoods official home ground so they are always going to get preference. Another point that sees them get preference is that mcg or mcc have a contract with AFL that collingwood play a certain number of games and this purely reasoned by gate takings, as collingwood has a massive fan base and is always expected pull in the bigger crowds.

Secondly there are about 250 rules and constraints that have to be taken into account when fixturing these start from club preferences, travel requirements, previous years ladder results, contracts with venues, expected incomes from games etc etc and the biggy for those that didn't do Intro to Calculus at school is it just comes down to the Maths.

Theres no denying that there is always conflicts of interest but looking at only a few of the numbers below the fixturing looks pretty even to me.

Collingwood - 18 games in Melbourne 7 of those were actually 'away' games (11 Home Games)

Essendon - 17 games in Melbourne 6 of those were 'away' games (11 Home Games)

Carlton - 16 games in Melbourne 5 of those were 'away' games (11 Home Games)

St Kilda - 16 games in Melbourne 7 of those were 'away' games (9 Home Games)

Fremantle - 12 games in Perth 1 of those was an 'away' game (11 Home Games)

Brisbane 11 games in Brisbane (11 Home Games)

Port Adelaide - 12 games in Adelaide 1 was an 'away' game (11 Home Games)

Sydney - 11 games in Sydney all home

sorry Poodude, dont know which school you went to (obviously one in collingwood [}:)][}:)])
but 18 in melbourne compared to 12 in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane etc. equals 1/3 more games in the home town than any of the other non vic teams.
Hardly even

And that's where the Maths comes into it...

16 teams....

10 Victorian

6 Interstate

approximate 2/3 split plus your 1/3 of interstate teams

2/3 of games in Victoria 1/3 of games Interstate

There is no Mathematical way to get around that unless you start making games where there is 2 vic teams playing each other play the game interstate which evidently they already are anyway. IE Hawthorn in Tasmania - North in Canberra

something that might help would be to let the non financial vic clubs fade away.

North Melbourne is a classic example.

The draw is already a joke, there is no way to get an even comp if all teams dont play each other twice.
Bring this bloody gold coast and western sydney teams into it and it will be hell.

If they bring the gold coast in on their own and we end up with a bloody bye that will be just plain sh1t.

Playing each other twice is still going to mean the interstate teams travel 1/3 more than the vic teams it's not going to change ****.

Wait until you see the draw plus selection priorities and other benefits Gold Coast are going to get over the next few (decade?) years.

Port and the Dockers will - justifiably - be wondering what the hell happened to their slice of the get started pie?

2nd team in Qld is plain dumb. Brissy do all right but have been tres successful. If they languish there will be stuff all interest from the punters (ala Sydney) and the AFL will potentially be propping up 2 Qld teams. Dumb. If you can't stand on your feet for the majority of years in a decade then game over I reckon.

Precisely why there should be a Tassie team! A state full of bogan footy heads (wait for it...), a stadium ready to go, and you can get from Hobart to the MCG faster than from Geelong (well, on a busy day). All we'd need in way of concessions is getting back all the Tassie players that play for other clubs.

what do u call a collingwood supporter in a car?
criminal

what do u call 2 collingwood supporters in a car?
organised crime

What's the difference between Collingwood and an arsonist?
An arsonist wouldn't waste 22 matches

Collingwood are bringing out a new bra. Plenty of support but no CUP

If you see a Collingwood fan on a bicycle, why should you never swerve to hit him?
It could be your bicycle

What do you have when 100 Collingwood fans are buried up to their necks in sand?
Not enough sand.

You're trapped in a room with a tiger, a rattlesnake and a Collingwood fan, you have a gun with 2 bullets. What do you do?
Shoot the Collingwood fan twice.

How many Collingwood fans does it take to change a light bulb?
Seven. One to change it, five to moan about it and make excuses and Mick Malthouse to say that if the umpire had done his job in the first place the light bulb would never have gone out.

Did you hear about the politician who was found dead in a Collingwood jumper? The police had to dress him up in women's underwear in to save his family from the embarrassment.
