Going by the subject title of this thread, I thought you were going to ask whether the new home beer tap system (Tap King??) that is being heavily promoted (TV ad with Lionel Richie) at the moment is worth having. It appears that buying the refills for the system are more expensive than buying normal bottles or cans, so are there any other advantages of the tap system? Or is it just the cool idea of having your own beer tap in the fridge?

Tap king is as bad as nespresso. Custom crap that can't be used in any other machine. It's vendor lock in at its very best.

They are a bit of a gimmick if you ask me. Beer is expensive enough as it is. Why pay all that extra for something less convenient than a stubby or can.
The only positive thing i get out of it, is that your misses can't keep tabs on how many you might of drunk each night

true blue.

If you're that keen buy 3 x 18ltr stainless kegs and brew at Brew4u or similar place. Much cheaper, 200+ varieties, etc. Just need the fridge, tap, & co2 hire.

Good point !, unable to determine how much you have drunk
BUT , when the 19 litres is empty after 4 days, the questions of how when and WTF happened to that become hard to explain

Damm neighbours over again is a good one

Sounds like a good idea however not sure how I would go pouring my 15th scooner on a Friday night - in the fridge!! I am known to occasionally be slightly sloppy towards the end of an evening, could imagine spilling an entire schooner into the salad crisper would win me many friends come Saturday morning.

Got a Tap King for Dads Day. Onto the second bottle, and have poured about 2 good beers from it so far - rest have too much or too little head. It is convenient - perhaps a tad too much so - found myself contemplating beer for brekky the other day ('twas a weekday too!).
Probably more expensive than buying Vale IPA in a 4 pack, but hell, I'm a sucker for a gimmick!
