Hey guys i just found out before it got to far on myself that there is a scammer that is going through the Seabreeze listings of Boats and maybe more.
I received a text message asking if the boat was still available and to email her on [email protected]
The email i received back was:
Hello,Thanks for the swift reply, What is your asking price and i want youto get back to me with more pictures because i am not available at themoment, i am in Malaysia and i will be using the boat here in Malaysia.I will be handling the pick up of this merchandise through alegitimate shipping agent that has their headquarter situated inMalaysia . Please note that i will not be needing the boatregistration because it will be invalid over here so please remove theregistration. The boat will be picked up after you receive the fullpayment, so i really need to know the mode of payment because i needthis boat urgently. Hope to read from you asap. Sophia
After typing her email adress into google i found that it is the exact same email she has used to scam many car sellers
Try it and see if you dont beleive me just be careful with what you put over the internet

This scam is put up on the net in a thousand different ways every day
and their English is sooooooooooooooooo good! Not

So what exactly is the scam, your obviously not going to let the boat go without payment, and if you think your being scamed get them to pay through paypal then your both protected.
Just got an offer from [email protected] - hmmm not sure about this one... any suggestions? ignore? Any advice? Very sad

Get the punter to come and see the items for sale.
No see no sale - unless you know them via Seabreeze or they put the cash in your account first.
Don't be motivated by a quick sale and $$.
I had a scammer try to get my net bank login details, I was out so did a search to find the net bank login and attempted to log in. But it said accounts frozen contact bank.
I then realised the address bar was one letter short, the page looked identical. i quickly loged on to the real net bank and changed my login password. Luck i realised what was going on, if i ignored it and contacted my bank there would be a chance everything i had would be gone..
The internet is a great place for getting a deal but you do need to protect yourself, i use a separate account linked to pay pal mostly now, and keep records of all receipts etc.
I have always been mindful of the saying, buyer beware, but these days its more like seller be warned. What a world we live in.
As many holes as we plug in the site, they find new ones, and, as in real life, you must take care.

I don't really see a problem - like Poor Relli said. This site is not like eBay it is local and safe as the intent of the buy and sell is to let members buy and sell stuff. I have no issues with selling anything on here to an aussie who has been an active member of seabreeze for a while (lets say couple of months).
The advantage is we all sell large items that are in most cases not suitable for freight, and are sold to real enthusiasts who will want to look at the item or ask technical questions.
The scammers are obvious here unlike on ebay / gumtree / whatever
Then again, when some perosn from overseas wiht poor english tries the "I have all my money tied up so I will send you $5K in travellers cheques for your $1K item and you refund me the difference" ........ if you get stung you deserve to be stung. With some of the retards out there who fall for that I seriously don't know how they made it to 30 or 40 or 50 years old when they fall for that stuff.
