Want to know one thing thats more annoyn than me on the internet
MILLIPEDES does anyone have the pleasure of having these little pests around these are an introduced species and around my house live in the millions.
infact last year i have had to rip up carpet to remove the infestation.
i just look under some lino and there back.
They invade houses and get into food, bedding and clothes, stain floors when squashed, stink and destroy backyard veggie gardens. In 1953, a new pest was discovered in Port Lincoln, South Australia - the black Portuguese millipede. But, as Liz Yuncken reports, it wasn't just one - it was a plague!
Its got to the stage where i now add pesticide in with my mop bucket.
If you see a house with them in i sygest the owners are selling because of it.
these insects are driving me nuts
Anyone else had problems?
You south australian people can have your crappy milipede bug back.
Had them at our rental, but after 2 visits from the pest man they seem to have gone, (touch wood) haven't seen them for a couple of years.
But it only works if everybody who's infected gets treated at the same time.
What we now have instead is the cape lilac caterpillar, (almost as bad, once they eat all the leaves), one of these days I'll get the chain saw out and just remove the tree.
We had them 3 years ago..really bad
They just got less and less over the last couple of years..
and now!! ...I spotted 1 in the garden on the weekend..
Have no clue why we have non now..
All I know is I am VERY glad not to have them![]()
They are attracted to light source, so have a light on as far from a door outside as posible this will keep them away from your door, unfortunatly we cant black out our internal lights, this does help as I do it all the time now, also a good surface spry will repel the little fuggers as well as the cape lilac caterpillars.
Happy hunting
they cannot climb over glass. If you own your own home, this leads to an easy fix. Apply a thin strip of glas (30mm) all the way around every wall of the house.
Then when you extreminate them indoors, they can't get back in
