I fail to comprehend how if Oscar heard a noise that he thought was an intruder, that the first thing he would do would be to turn to ask riva if "she heard that?"
Or to at least put his hand out to touch her?
Seems a long stretch to believe him when presented with just a couple of aspects of the story.

One night I was awakened by the sound of someone fiddling with the front door lock, I sat up in bed to listen more intently, definitely what I was hearing so I reached into the nightstand and retrieved my .40 caliber pistol, then I heard the front door opening so I crept out of bed towards the hallway, then the door closed and I could hear footsteps across the hardwood floor coming my way, from a concealed position I called out, " who's there?, who is that?" silence, then a female voice called out, "it's me Molly"
I was so mad, my wife had given her a key to spend the night and had failed to tell me.
But I never even got as far as chambering a round or pointing the pistol.
What the blade runner did was reckless manslaughter in the least.

He shot to kill someone, so he should be done for murder. (4 shots at a small toilets door shows intent to kill)
Reports do indicate he is a gun nut, and perhaps he got so excited by the thought of using his gun to kill someone it dumbed down his common sense.

If it was truly not intended to be Reeva, then he should be given extra jail time just for being exceptionally stupid.

I expect that if if his story holds true, ie the police cannot find any forensic evidence to nail him for murder , then he will get off very lightly.
I guess it could be argued that he did not actually mean to kill someone behind the door - as he did not actually aim at a body part - but all we will all know he did.

There is one person that know the truth for sure.
I wonder if CIA could accommodate famous guest for one night at Guantanamo for water boarding party to refresh his memory.

Lucky you had a gun, and I think this illustrates perfectly why every home should have a loaded gun in the nightstand.

-Oscar's favourite band: Bullet for my valentine.

-Investigators are still stumped at the Oscar Pistorius shooting.

-Poor Oscar, He can't even throw himself on his knees and ask the court for leniency

-Apparently she kept coming home at all hours. Maybe he shot her because he couldn't put his foot down.

- New evidence has been found outside the Pistorius home that completely acquits him of his girlfriend's murder. Footprints.

- I had heard that he was very highly sprung.

-I have just realised that Oscar can enrol in the shooting event with the next Olympics.

-Reporter "Oscar, why did you shoot her?" Oscar "Well I couldn't exactly kick her out now could I?"

-She didn't notice Oscar sneaking up behind her. It was the silence of the limbs.

-If Oscar Pistorius had no arms, this would never happen.

-Surely Oscar Pistorius can't be the 1st man to wake up legless on Valentine's Day and shoot all over his wife's face imagining she was someone else.
Whilst Oscar missed out on a Valentine's Day blow job, he can look forward to anal sex every night for the next 20 years.

-Oscar is not going to walk away from this.

Not the most expected invention but this simple requirement for every gun to be equipped with memory stick recording camera is the single most desirable requirement in nearest future.
Not too much to ask when you are taking somebody else life forever.
Automatically starts recording when bullet is loaded into chamber or gun cocked.

It will record at least at two directions same time; to record both victim and shooter same time.

I always wonder why on hell Airlines didn't do this same with planes operator. Simple camera in the cockpit tell air crash investigator more then dozen red boxes.

if save life, why not
if Pistorius duct taped highly critical girl friend instead of killing her, whole incident could be forgiven and forgotten by now.
Then herbal remedies could be replaced with something proven to work (Viagra ?) or even have another prosthetic ordered.

They have me wondering a bit too.........

How about letting the court sort the mess out, and ignoring all the hype stirred up by the media?

Everyone knows South Africa has a huge problem with crime - are you really surprised that people want the tools to protect themselves.

Ex South Africans and Zimbabweans, Rhodesians and Kenyans (now Aussies) I have worked with and known over the years describe thier old homes as being built like fortresses- even to the extent that at night the interior of thier homes are locked with steel gates into smaller, defendable zones.
Going out in public they are literally armed to the teeth- and if the weaponry wasnt in plain view you were very likely going to be mugged, abducted or carjacked.
Living like this you would tend to develop a "shoot first and ask questions later" mentality.
Oscar (Pistwhatsisname?) is high profile, and relatively wealthy- a perfect target for crims looking for a quick buck.
I am not defending the bloke- but before you hang the fella- try and imagine living in his boots for a while.
Sit down, shut up and let the court do its job.

OH BTW Who gives a rat's? The only ones enjoying this tragedy are the media and lawyers.

They do live on public money, role models and advertising bankroll , taken to schools end events to corrupt young souls
then turned down to be black character
THEY BEING PAY TO BE GOOD EXAMPLE and that is brake of the contract.
Unlike Gina R that work hard to earn her money and doesn't need to worry about
public receipt.

Simple rule of thumb.... If someone is famous for something, only give them (special) attention while they are actually doing whatever they are famous for.

For example, I might get a kick out of watching a famous kiter push the limits, but I don't expect him/her to be an angel in real life. I apply the same values to famous people as I do to anyone else. (I also offer them the same amount of privacy).
There are A-holes in all walks of life, some of them are famous, some are not.

Seriously, what do you guys prefer as a way of accessing an accurate verdict in cases like these:

a) trial in front of Judge and Jury where evidence is weighed and measured; or,
b) trial by social media where forum lurkers indulge in unsubstantiated speculation.
