Just received an email on a new innovative energy device that could blow solar & wind out of the running for green energy, and maybe even nuclear?

...seems a surreal! (and it's not even April fool's yet...)

Definitely worth a look if you're into this stuff like I am!

if you like that then check out www.cfcl.com.au/

a company that came from the csiro, also listed on the asx:cfu if your really keen .

also this system uses the heat of the cells reaction to heat water as well as produce the electricity

its just a fuel cell with a fancy name? so its basically internal combustion but a bit more efficient.... hardly "green" or renewable, well depending on what you run it on anyway.

also should be mentioned... current fossil fuel power stations get pretty close to the bloom boxes claimed efficiency levels.

its not a silver bullet, but it has potential. end of the day, it's only ever going to be a temporary solution.

so it's about as efficient as plugging into the grid... but that's good if it's local, isn't it?

Interesting...so with all the hype surrounding it, maybe it should've been called the iBox

Didn't realise it was backed by the founder of Google, that explains alot.

No, the argument they make is that it is more efficient than the generation and transmission from existing power plants. I.e. you are better off because of the power losses in the transmission path.

I wonder if its that efficient why energy providers are not going to deploy these type of things themselves across their networks.
