OK, so it's a long weekend, bloody hot, I don't have a yacht to sail, and Funny Images just aint doing it. What is the best TV series in years recently..??
Boardwalk Empire.
Made by HBO, the first series ran on SBS (of course) about 6 months ago. It has the three critical ingredients to make a good show:
• Violence
• Sex
• Violence
Or maybe the other way around.
So who's in it?
Nucky, played by Steve Buscemi. Ugly as sin, and what an anti-hero. Any man would die to have his timeless dress style.
Nelson van Alden – Tarantino could not do a better agent.
Richard – Positively spooky. You trust he is on your side.
And Jimmy Darmody along with his mother Gillian – Like Oedipus meets Lady Macbeth.
They've run just one season here, but three have been filmed.
Yes some of the story twists are improbable, and occasionally unfollowable. But just go with it & enjoy the show and it will all make sense in the end.
And I've found where you can watch it on line.
As Molly would say, do yourself a favour…….

Chalky White who was Omar in "The Wire" again plays a "good" bad guy.
My favourite shows are Breaking Bad, The Wire, Sons of Anarchy and Boardwalk Empire. I have downloaded all that are available via torrents and impatiently await more.
Another good one of late is "Hell On Wheels" currently showing on ABC2.
These shows are coming out of more localised studios and break from the mainstream mould.
Go HBO!!!
Season 3 of Walking Dead is a cracker.
S2 was pretty horrible, turned into a schmaltzy soapy, lots of religion
and they cheaped out on the production, costs a lot money to do all those zombies so they just saved them for the finale.
s3 is the best yet, great action and tension in every episode and serious slaying going on.
