I have finally figured out Bob's strange dissapearances for days and then reappearance .I rarely use my car and it lives in the Garage (i use my bike for just about everything.) when it rains I wimp out and use the car .bob went missing again this week and when I got my car out yesterday bob shot out of the garage when I put the door up .My wife had used it 3 days previous and it now appears that Bob slips in to hunt down the mice and rats that live in our garage and then gets inadvertadly locked in and slips out when the door go's up but has not been noticed before .So there you go
I love the garage.......... Ms TheCat locks me in there from time to time, there are a lot of toys there and plenty of hiding spots, sometimes my mate Bob comes as well and we have fun hunting! We found a box with a funny white dress and old dried flowers we use it for our urgent business! The garage is a bit like camping! 
Just noticed our Reg doing the same thing, must be a in build cat radar, garage equals foodhall.
did that to my dog once, I lost him on friday afternoon and looked for him all weekend throughout the town.
went to get in the Hiace camper to go to work on monday and there he was sitting in the drivers seat
I'm buggered if I know how he held on all that time, but when i let him out he just let the lot go within a metre of the van
