Camping overnight is not legal. Good luck with the snakes and the navy boys.

Who are you and why are you asking questions about known Australian military establishments.

North west side of the Island has a little bay with a few mooring boys, I spend a few nights on my yacht there, the first night I spent I let the boarding ladder down and, next morning,I found a nice 2m python curled in the cockpit I am very happy he did not fancy sharing my bed. There is a lot of tiger snacks as well, be sure to close your swag!

I remember camping there in the old days in a 12 foot dingy weather turned to **** overnight and came back in wearing a wetsuit on and snorkeling goggles. everything was soaked and there was 6 inches of water in the bottom of the tinny.
Pisser of a weekend. Got a few good waves in behind the island aswel.

Maybe they should rename it Tiger Snake Island Navy Base and then that will tell you whether or not is a good place to camp on

As a member of GIFAA ( Garden Island Fishing and Aquatic Association) i would advise against camping on the island. GIFAA has fought very hard for all of the boating public to be able to still use the moorings in the bays and the facilities on the island as long as we all follow the rules and regs the navy has set out. If you look up GIFAA on the intramaweb there is a map outlining the public access areas and prohibited areas and other info.

No, I'm fine. Had a pleasant, uneventful trip in calm conditions last weekend. I'll post some go-pro if I get around to editing it. Thanks for the info above. Lots of people seemed to stay the night in large power boats - but I guess they are not 'camping'.

Felix,
Totally disagree - Tiger penis soup is more of a main meal than snack
