Does it have enough grunt to pull you back up the hill? That'd make it worth it!!

Atleast it's cheap to run and environmentally friendly! Now can somebody please make an electric jetski?

Cheap compared to pushing the pedals your self?

Environmentally friendly... howzat? you need to put electricity in it, where does most of that come from?

You're claiming charging an electric motor causes the same amount of pollution as running an internal combustion engine for the same amount of time? Unless you generate your own power with a miniature coal powered station in your backyard then they are more environmentally friendly than a conventional motorcycle, albeit a lot slower.

Also I think they have a range of about 70kms, so try peddling that far and let me know how you go. You are right, they would not be a cheap option if you bought one so that you could ride to the corner store and buy a choc milk, but I don't think that's their intended purpose.

its more efficient to supply your own energy using your own home made coal power station than it is to buy it on the grid.

below is a slightly edited transcript from an asx stock announcment (cfu)

"the average efficiency of the current power grid in Victoria is less than 30%. "

"in the European Union after transmission and distribution losses, the average electrical efficiency of conventional power stations in the is less than 35%."

Its a bike, i didnt compare it to a motorbike, i compare it to a bike. Putting an eletric drive and batteries make it far less environmentally friendly. compared to a Motor bike, yes less energy i guess, but doesnt serve the same purpose.

cwamit got it, coal power is horribly inefficient, then add distribution losses and it gets worse.

OT: small localised gas fired turbines with an alternator attached are great, much more efficient in the generation, if they are spread out the power is generated where its needed eliminating the distribution loss. and provide excess heat during the winter for household heating.... cogeneration - will be viable as electricity prices increase

the longest ride i have done was around 150 km at an average of about 33 km/h (but to be fair that was years ago )

you could always plug it into your pv(photo voltaic{solar panels})stack. cheaper than gas or coal especially if you go to bed/get out of bed with sunset/ sunrise that way you dont have need of power at night and dont need battery storage(big cost saving there)
