Hey I just moved to Canberra and am looking for some place or people to kitesurf with! The Lakes around here look big enough, I just havnt seen any good wind conditions yet! Broulee I hear is the best spot... does anyone do the track from Canberra to Broulee???
Best spot to ask is in the kitesurfing forum.
Keep scrolling down the main forum list and you will find it.
(from a windsurfer's perspective)
A few have kitesurfed Lake Burley Griffin, with moderate success. It is OK in East Basin, but you would need to keep well away from Kings Avenue Bridge. Central Basin and West Basin have many trees on the edges, so launching and landing is a hassle.
There are lots of great coastal places < 2 hours from Canberra. North Broulee seems to be the most popular. But also Corrigans Beach, Long Beach and Tomakin river mouth are regular places to kitesurf (and windsurf). Further afield is magical Merimbula.
Also Coila Lake (near Tuross) is good, if you prefer flat water.
I no some of the lakes to the south, Adamindiby,Jindee are spots to explore in summer/winter. Have a kite and fish.
Tarthra to ulladulla got a be sweet locations for a kite ?
