So I tried the organic route for my experimental garden, and it was a relative failure. Insects affected most of the plants, and it was a wet summer... imagine a dry one.
So now I'm after carnivorous insects, to keep guard.
Wasps seems to do a good rob around tall plants with flowers, but the low lying stuff (vegies/herbs) they don't touch.
I got a couple small Praying Mantids, but they're a bit lazy and only stay at the top of a plant and doesn't eat much.
Ants around here seem to ignore other insects and go about their business or eat my electronic gear.
Are there any insects I could keep that will kill the others?
Parasytic wasps or Lady bugs.
Lady bugs love eating the Aphids that damage your plants and flowers.
Ladybugs are carnivorous and not dangeouos like wasps can be.
Yey!
Is that the garden with the blue tarp over it in the shape of a swimming pool to fool the helicopters???![]()
Was that in a cheech movie?
As for your insect problem, forget the gay ladybugs,,,,venus fly traps are way cooler.
How prehistoric is this plant...awsome.
I just like the idea of feeding a plant meat.
Its the only plant on earth that freaks out vegetarians![]()
I have a really small veggie patch next to my worm farm.
The worm farm was infested with ants as well as worms.
Any way , the pepper plant became covered in aphids but then I noticed the ants swarming on the plant carrying them off and now the pepper plant is clear .
So ants can be your friend.
garlic spray with a soapy mix does really well, also copper tube keeps the snails out, especially with regular drippings of lemon juice over the pipe.
