Congratulations QLD! We now have one of the worlds most expensive public transport systems courtesy of inept economic management by the QLD Labour Govt. After increasing public transport fares by 10% beginning of 2011 surprise surprise as a result there were 500,000 less users of public transport.  Now these morons have  gone again and raised fares by 15% and will increase fares again by another 15% in 2013.
I now pay a fraction under $26 per day to travel to Brisbane from south GC. Compared to any other state and country this is double if not more for a comparable distance....ludicrous!
This and successive inept govts have flogged off public assets and after pissing it all away need cash so are hitting hard working taxpayers. Fare increases, stamp duty increase, cancelling of fuel subsidy are all cash grabs by a desperate Govt that will surely be out on it's arse soon.
Not saying the LNP will be any better but these fools don't deserve to stay! Rant Over

I used to think your car rego fees paid for road building and improvements.Apparently it barely pays for the bureaucracy that administers the "service." Probably the same for public transport.

Leave it to the govt to mismanage anything and look after their mates. This is the reason a change of government is necessary. Regardless of which side.

dont grizzle , at least you have a train from Brisbane airport to the city! Victoria doesn't.

i took a train from Brisbane to the yacht club district a couple of years ago , $5.00 return approximately. way too cheap was my thinking even back then .
But selling off public assets .... that's what we do best!!! it will come back to haunt us soon enough!!!

No, no, no, yes wa is worst! I have gone back to travel by car to work in the city, cost Ms Dcat and I $20-00 a day to travel by train (35km), but I have to admit I am lucky to enjoy a free parking bay in the CBD ( that is priceless!). And to top it the libs are so dumb thety forgot to order new cars........ give it a year and we will be like the Japs and there will be a few guys on the platforms "helping" (pushing hard) the patrons in the trains!

Queensland now has the "Smart" driver's licence that has a chip with all your info on it.

When I get mine I will scratch the chip off just to annoy them.

Am surprised you guys are surprised. We've had similar threads in this forum for food prices, taxes in general, plumbers and other manual workers, etc. This is an irreversible trend bar two exceptions: what can be exported to China, and public service.

At my shop, I can get any of the new hirees say at loud they don't want to work as hard nor as much as their parents did. Even comes out during interview sometimes, as a threat. It seems new workers have a "right" to Facebook, go smoking and what not during work.

Now, let's say they work half what a good guy does, who comes in on time and doesn't do FB and Twitter and personal calls all day. And let's say the quality is half. Then productivity is 1/4. Apply the numbers you want for your own line of work. So my products have to be more expensive.

Multiply this productivity factor - invariably a fraction - across the board, and there you effing go. There has to be a tax for the much decreased productivity in our society, at least for services and the local food industry, local tech that has not been outsourced yet, road workers, etc.

Not even a biggie.

At a rate you would not believe. Successive (or should I say regressive) Labor governments in Qld have totally broken the bank and are scrabbleing around for any which way they can make the citizens of Qld pay for the ineptitude of the pollies and beaurocrats.

Here is their latest idea which is to put a toll on a huge section of National Route 1 called the "Bruce Highway". It has to be totally illegal as it is a federally funded road.

My thinking is that it is just another tooth in the NWO agenda to further limit our freedoms by installing a plethora of cameras and surveillance equipment on the most used road in the state.

If it happens here, be sure it will not be long before it happens in your state.
