My dad wants me and my brothers to buy him a dash-cam for Fathers Day. I'm not sure what he wants to capture, though he did write off his last car hitting a cow and he loves the Russian crash compilations on Youtube.
Anyone got one, have some feedback on whats good, what not. There are so many different models out there I don't really know where to start.
Jaycar have some good models, some more features than others. . Office works has some that are good, but when we tested it, kept falling off holder.
Went the Jaycar model for around the $120 mark
Thanks Mineral, there is a Jaycar in Joondalup so I will pop in there and have a look.
A powered cradle and dashcam app might be a good idea if dad had a phone newer than the one technophobe Mark_Australia uses ![]()
If he wishes to use it for legal purposes, make sure it time stamps the recording else it won't stand up to scrutiny.
I think the Navman sat nav's allow for camera integration as well
welcome to bigger brother.
what happened to the good old days when you said yep my fault sorry! and swapped insurance details

I admit its a fair time ago that I risked melting my brain by reading all the fine print on a vehicle policy, but when I did, there was a bit that said not to admit any liability-or name your insurance company.
All you could say was "I am insured", and swap contact details and then let the insurance companies fight it out.
I can understand the idea behind not saying "its my fault", but never could work out the bit about naming your insurance company.

Chris, come around and have a look at my cameras in the bedroom and bathrooms.

Sell 'em here for about $40. Time-stamps and record a variety of G-forces.
There's an app for it too if you have the iPhones.
