I noted with delighted interest Jeff Atwood's latest blog post:
blog.codinghorror.com/civilized-discourse-construction-kit/
For those of you who don't know who Jeff is, he's the guy behind "Stack Overflow", the site that basically guarantees to give you the best answer to a computer-related question.
So now he's trying his hand at making forum software. This fills me with a frisson of excitement, because as we all know, forums are the way to connect with people all over the world who share our love of things weird, wonderful, and crazy. In fact, Jeff puts it much better than I could do:
So now he's built a system to let us get past the humdrum problems of storage space, issues with image size, multiple login details between forums, the list goes on. He's built a better mousetrap, while still allowing our community to talk amongst ourselves. In fact, he's actively encouraging it!
So who's in?
It looks the business!
Love that it loads as you scroll...
(edit)
But, Seabreeze is pretty sweet too, it all integrates really well at the moment, from the weather, to the Buy & Sell etc...
That said discourse does look very good Nebbian.
How about a www.DiscourseTest.seabreeze.com.au? I am intrigued now.
Nebs,
How about tryng it on GPSTC - would love a running forum. Whilst seabreeze has been the GPSTC's default forum entity I reckon there's a heap of GPSTCers who don't use SB (anymore).
Edit - I've just had a play in it and for a tech ignoramus like myself, that is pretty damn cool.
