... on Anti-Australian "sentiment". (or is it stupidest?)

Never thought this existed, was pointed out to me by a workmate.
Incredibly bad, I dare not think what stupid moron could have written such a thing..

Thats life mate and you have to put up with it.

I am currently debating with myself whether or not to reply to a woman who writes for the Guardian in the UK. She was a personal friend of one of the pedophiles at the school I attended in Tanzania and is in complete denial as to the fact that he was a pedophile regardless of the fact that he admitted it and apologised for it, in writing.

The point is is who the fark gives these people license to write the crud they do?

The answer to that one is simple. They are encouraged because it creates controversy which attracts readership regardless of the truth or accuracy of what they write.

And readership sells papers.

End of story.

and it's worked- you bought a paper because of a controversial article. if you don't like the way they write, don't buy the publication- pretty simple really.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Australian_sentiment

is that what you are referring to? I only skim read it but it seems to be reasonably factual to me - the indo's don't really like us and neither do the Islamic extremeists cos we are a US ally.

No it has not worked and no I did not buy the paper. I was sent a link to the article by a friend. I also make a point of not jumping to conclusions without giving the subject critical thought and the benefit doubt

Agreed. This is completely reasonable and factual.

People aren't aware of this? Really?

The article is crap... I figured it would have an aboriginal perspective... let's face it, they've got quite a big axe to grind. Apology or not.

Stupid article didn't even mention the <tard speed limits, the traffic lights every 100m or the ATO.

pierrec45 go edit it!

Hate to say it but the person who wrote it sounds a fair whack smarter than you.

Did you think Oz was loved by each and every one of the 7 billion out there?

I can't see what you're objecting to? Why is it so shocking?

That Oz may be liked by 7 billions is not what I was saying, not sure where you're going with this weird reply.

Back to the point, wherever I have traveled in Europe and the Americas, Australia and Australians are wayyyy high on everyone's list, Canada being mentioned often too.
Seldom seen exception to this. Now, this may be undeserved or uneducated comments at times, but it's about the only feedback we ever get. Even drunken larrikins in Europe cannot tarnish that image. (Pomies do not count - they just hate losing at sports.)

i have experienced the exact opposite wherever i have travelled. aussies are often viewed as drunken idiots who have little respect for the local customs or language. the yanks of the southern hemisphere.
and much of the time the reputation is well deserved.

If you don't like the article, why not just edit it to the "truth"?

I thought it was pretty much on the money.
If i was running an overpopulated island chain across the road from a big empty land full of minerals and oil/gas, hardly any armed forces, and begging to be invaded, I would be thinking of ways to justify a little invasion,
maybe get the population to get angry enough to agree to invade
theres a good chance that the big Islands allies would think long and hard before backing them up, maybe trying all sorts of diplomatic compromises instead

^^^Tomorrow when the war began? Luckily Indo couldn't organise it's way out of a paper bag, so that'll never ever happen.

The 2nd half of the 'Attacks on Australians' section is a bit... off topic and bordering on inflammatory? Listing 3 or 4 known horrible incidents where 1st or 2nd gen immigrants have labelled themselves as not aussie seems pretty meaningless to the context of the article.

Gotta rule out those who hate it here and stay here.
A case of bad immigration, anti-their-place, anti-here, for a plethora of reasons. I travel US+Canada on biz and I hear the same all the time over there too.

Aussies abroad: agreed quite a few of those drunken kids in Europe - Spain and Italy a lot.
Heard people bitch about those, but never heard someone translate it into anti-australian 'sentiments' on that basis.

I've seen Australians over seas and have concluded even I dislike us! I swear landing in a foreign country makes some people turn up the Bogan ten fold. I am saddened that these are the only Australians some people meet..

I don't think it's that easy, after all there is a page called 'Criticism Of Islam' and you'd expect if it was that easy to change the content there would be nothing there..

I've lived in a predominantly Muslim country and have to conclude that there is no such thing as moderates. They're all pretty damn extreme!.. They all hate America (yet watch MTV all day), hate the Jews and anybody that is seen to support them.. None that I met could explain why, it was just the party line..

I'm glad these people hate Australia, this place stands in direct contradiction to what these people think the world should be like.

That's why I also not count Islam-hate-Australia - they hate everything that is not them, there would be too many such Wiki articles.

Well if we discount people who hate everyone else, and immigrants who hate any place they're in including their own countries, is there that much dinkum anti-australian feeling left? I reckon about none, which corresponds to my travel (work) experience.
