Anyone else on the verge of justifying a need for an electric skateboard... AKS have the Fiik boards which look like the ultimate transport to local surf break, work, etc.
Wonder how they'd go on the bike paths for the 25km commute to work... Could you carry a surfboard comfortably for a few kms to local... I read somewhere that they could legally be used on bike paths unless there were 'no skateboarding' signs posted...
Only one way to find out I s'pose, any thoughts? suggestions?? stories???
I imagine it would need to comply with the same power output (200watts?)
and speed restrictions as an electric bike (not sure about the speed)10 K's
to be allowed on dual-use pathways.
cover yourself and hit the transport dept website for details
found it for you..(well- nearest I could find to a skateboard)
seems you cant take your motorised skateboard on a road- but it doesnt say you cant use footpaths.
more research might be needed!http://ors.wa.gov.au/Demographic-Pages/I-am-a-Pedestrian/Motorised-Scooters
(I have heard on the grapevine that the power output might be getting raised to 250watts to bring us in line with Europe)
stephen.
fiik are great boards. not sure if it could do the 20 clicks. take a shorty to the beach no problems...if it is not windy...a sup...i would like to watch you try![]()
still cant beat the push though![]()
just wondering what you would do with the elecric skateboard once you got to your local?????
I'd imagine it would be a bit toooo tempting for the local lightfinger brigade if you just left it on the beach while you had a surf.![]()
I have modded 2 for customers. Ditch the 2 small 12volt sealed batteries and replaced them with 4 11.1volt lipo's. 2 in series and 2 in parallel to get 22.2volt.
I got the second guy to nail it after seeing the first one go - instant backflip, grazed knee's, blood from the elbows
. Around 50-55kmph. Last around 2hrs of light cruising at 25-30clicks. Illegal as hell but a weapon. Motors gets a little toasty but no damage yet and the esc seems to be holding up so far.
Not sure if they where fiik boards or another brand - had nothing written on them.
I used to see a guy with a wider than normal board - I guess like a landboard/mountain board, with the little motor bolted on top of the board, and a throttle/break cable in one running up to his hand. I reckon it would be awesome for exactly what you said Nath, I wish I had a path to work :-)http://www.ebay.com/sch/sis.html?_kw=NEW+Wireless+Motorized+electric+skateboard+LANDBOARD
Segway: Sorry, but I couldn't help think of this song, just cracks me up being a kid from the era looking forward to Beyond 2000... I feel let down too.
You have to listen to the words, it's priceless.
Minor Language Warning..
Bottom line is that they don't comply with nsw Rta fun police rules in nsw .ther used to be a shop in coogee called rods rad toys.the fun police clamped down on this stuff years ago.once they are above the radar again the Rta will be out demonising them again with the cops handing out hefty non compliance fines![]()
