IMO without a chute that guy is f#%king loop da loop crazy.
^^^ Given the intent to fly - I'd be using gear up to the task: paraglider or parachute for sure.
I agree that if equipment failed, his cactus, and I agree that it was too long and boring (he could have done some loop the loops...yeh right!), but I've seen some Chasta vids, and even if he was 10 metres off the ground and equipment failed, he wouldn't be a happy little vegemite!
So this guy might be crazy (aren't we all?), but what an adrenalin rush....and check out those views!
By the way, this is hardly snow kiting (he launches and lands on snow...but), its more getting air....and air....and air.....oh well u get my point!
For me, air isn't my thing. I'd prefer to keep on terra firma, but I really appreciate those who like pushing the envelope.....so I'll keep watching these extreme vids.

Personally i would love do this. . . not that height first off but build up to something decent

chasta and some of the other regulars do take a parachute when flying this high
they double up on lines front and back. They also double up on the harnesses-
and the local snowkite top boys in norway claim from their own experiences that in decent conditions a 10m fall from equipment failure is usually no problem at all
the biggest risk i can see for this guy is pulley line failure - anyone who owns a psycho or speed will know how little control your left with after this very common/regular failure
