Yeah its a real bloody disaster.
Pity the government was too busy playing politics with emission trading schemes instead of actually doing something to help the environment.
How much does it cost to get someone before a senate committee? I would have thought its any Australian's right to ask their MP and senators questions about important issues. If not whats the point of our system of government?
Just to play devils advocate for the sake of discussion...
400 barrels 'Spewing' (according to WWF) into the ocean each day translates into a 30 litre bucket each minute. Not nice but not the great pipes of oil gushing like most people picture.
Also according to WWF the company 'says' it has tried 3 times already to fix the problem and failed. There is full disclosure of this, and actually it has spent $177M to date trying to fix the problem so why insinuate that they are lying?
About 300 people are working on addressing the spill, PTTEP has said. Seventeen vessels and nine aircraft, including a Boeing 747, have been used in the operation since Aug. 21. (from bloomberg)
I smell a scare campaign to make money for ... WWF
(no, they'd never do that, they're the good guys)
Anyway, just some food for thought. <ducks and waits for red thumbs...>
Have to be on the side of kiteboy Dave here.
Just like the next scare reported on news tonight.
"another leak only 50 k's away from a Chinese oil group well head" shock horror,
pity the slack mongrels failed to add, Opps, sorry
its only a minor gas leak at a multi point well head at ocean floor.
I dont like the fact oil is leaking into the ocean any more than the next person, ![]()
But as indicated so far, the attempts to stop it haven't been by amateurs here. Some major players in the oil and gas industry involved, so its a major issue to get it stopped, and not your average oil pipe line leak, this one is from the geographical rock formation on the ocean floor.
why do groups that take donations that are helping?.
the bill should be sent to the organization responcible obviously there not accountable for there actions like most criminals.
what has man kind come to.
surley the oil companies paying there ceo`s a half a million dollars pay rise each year should be accountable and take responcibility for the actions
what a joke
if the sole company was held responcible and accountable for its actions and neglection of maintainence mabe there approach on spills and accountability would different.
another reason why man kind is ****ed.......
Hands up who wants a "Nuclear Reactor" thats privately owned and Government regulated? (not me)
The oil waste I know it makes one hell of a mess but at least it isn't radio active!!!
