Howdy,
I'm heading down to Busso with the family mid Oct and was wondering if the crew down there get a sail in around that time, will check charts a day or 2 before I head down.\
Any info would be a help.

I have sailed a few times in a SE'er down there. its ok nothing flash. How ever if you score a wild NW'er go and sail Dunno it rocks!!
Busselton doesn't even work in the middle of summer so it would be highly unlikely to be doing anything in October.
The problem is that the sea breeze never really kicks in strongly any time because Busselton is mid way around Geographe Bay and faces North.
The sea breeze which would normally blow across from Yallingup has to cross about 30 Km of land before it gets to Busselton.
Then is has to push against what would be a local sea breeze at Busselton, which would naturally be a northerly.
The end result is SFA.
If it's a strong sea breeze at Yalingup you can sail a bit east of Dunsborough in what is a cross-off shore.
It's shallow for hundreds of metres out and it's smooth water. Also very clear.
However, it's not at all likely that this would be working in October.
If your rig is not reliable then don't go out any further than you can swim in because the next stop will be Bunbury.
As Bender says, A north Westerly is about the only wind that would be worth the effort and then it would be best at Dunsborough, not Busselton.
But north westerlies are not too common and when they blow, they only blow for a day or less before swinging westerly.
I agree with bender. I lived there for a while and if you score a NW then dunsborough is fantastic. A strong N-NE is doable from busso, but got to be lucky.
Ok, looking at the map Thursday may produce a 20+ knot WNWer, should I take my kit or not? I imagine the water will be quite choppy as well?
