There is a lot of conjecture about rising sea levels in the press and on the net.
Recently there was an open letter in a Sydney paper written by a man that has studied sea levels for 30 years. He has gold medals for excellence in research. His view is that sea levels are about the same as they have been since at least 1841

A recent TV program focused on the same subject. Anecdotal evidence given by participants varied from seas rising over a sea wall that had been recently constructed on (I think) Thursday Island to a man that had lived on the same seaside property for about 30 years. He indicated that he lived only metres from the sea and it hadn't risen an iota.
I wonder how your piece of coast is managing? In Western Australia there is a a rocky outcrop called Triggs Island. It is really an isthmus yet at least twice in my lifetime I have seen it surrounded by sea. A true island. I went down to Triggs recently to check the level for my own interest. The water level was so low it was possible for me to circumnavigate the "island" on foot.
I would be interested to hear what is happening at your local beach. Obviously storms and extreme tides need to be taken in to account but how different is it now from say, 30 years ago?
sand is constantly on the move anyway, so beaches are constantly appearing and dissappearing unless man has put a breakwall in, in which case it gets stuck there. i am careful about what i throw where and am anti whaling etc,but all the emissions stuff or saving water i aint with.
its funny that the eruptions that have recently spewed volcanic ash, ie carbon , into the atmosphere in iceland and all of europe for that matter probably dwarfs the 'carbon footprint' that man has put in the sky in the whole industrial revolution! the greenies must be gutted
OMG not another conspiracy theorist!
Tin foil hat alert!
@elbeau, look buddy our rulers said we are heating the planet with CO2 and that's the way it is... so pay up and by a Prius.
What you don't get, is all this CO2 we produce is causing climate change, yesterday it was raining and today it isn't and that was caused by CO2.
For Christs sake think about the poor polar bears!
For an informative mocumentary I recommend you watch An Inconvenient Truth.
While we are discussing weather the sea level has raised, my place in Croatia is turning into Venice.
Having surfed in WA for 30 years, I have not seen sea levels rise one bit. Put that in your "peer reviewed" pipe and smoke it.![]()

If all the computers running climate change models were turned off would the resultant saving in energy affect climate change ?
Perhaps we should model it ?
Kite surfers wouldn't remember but windsurfers would. Dunga island of Safety Bay was once a sand bar a few 100 meters of the main land but in the last 8 years sand movement has made it join the main land. Beaches and surf has changed around our local area. Use to get a good wave at surf beach but the banks have moved so much over the last few years. Donga looks like it will be seperated in the next few years again. Check nearmaps.com and it will show you satalite photos of beaches years ago and now. Some big changes.
