Yes. I inject water up each nostril using a 20ml plastic syringe (with no needle of course !). This jets out pollens etc from my nose/sinuses etc. This might sound pretty gross, but it works and it saves me having to use medication (steroid based) which I hate using. I normally do this shower time. I have to do this any time I fall in the water and sea water gets up my nose, as I'm allergic to something in our sea water.

If this is done with chilled water and especially when I throw chilled water over my face during/directly after, I believe this causes the divers reflex (although a scuba diver I know reckons I am wrong on this point). Regardless, this is a double bonus when I have a very bad fever as it lowers my body temperature and diverts blood anyway from my face almost instantly.

Might work for you ? Hope that helps.

Thanks J,

I was going down the same train of thought....surfing seems to cure it too. Just a matter of washing it out.

Enjoying my second spring and summer with no effects. Hay-fever was recently covered in the following thread

www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/General-Discussion/Chat/Antihistamines/

Windsurfing always gave me relief. Good luck Luma.

Also J,

Are you only allergic to S.A. waters...are you in Adelaide ????...what happens if you go to another location, east coast NSW seems to have heaps of salt in the water, vicco seems have a mild amount of salt in the water.

Yeah, I sail in Adelaide. When I sail in fresh water, I don't have this problem. I've only ever ventured into the ocean in SA. I've got a windsurfing mate who is the same except worse. He only needs to walk onto the beach with seaweed and it sets him off ("the Semaphore sneeze" as he calls it).

I went through 3 years of desensitisation - weekly injections of the 3 things I'm most allergic too (dust mites, cats, grasses).
Last year was the first year I hadnt lived on loratidine for 6 months of the year
