One big happy family!
Anyone want to hop on the HS Union gravy train
Julia is in the Baggage Car
All aboard !!!!!
A little information on the Health Services Union (HSU)
And you thought the NSW Labour party was suss!
I thought this sort of stuff only happened in 3rd world countries where all the family has their snouts in the trough.
These guys have had the trough extended and are now 'doing laps' in it..
Let's look at the HSU:
Craig Thomson - Former HSU National Secretary then Member for Dobell
Zoe Arnold - Married to Craig Thomson, former press secretary to Reba Meagher, ex NSW Health Minister
Leo McLeay - former ALP MHR, HSU Ombudsman.
Mark McLeay - Son of noted bike rider Leo McLeay, brother of Paul McLeay, former (sacked for watching porn) NSW Minister. Employed by Thomson.
Mike Williamson - National President HSU, former ALP National President, NSW ALP Vice-President, mentor to Craig Thomson
Alex Williamson - Daughter of Mike Williamson, staffer for Julia Gillard
Natalie Bradbury - National HSU Assistant Secretary, brother of David Bradbury, ALP member for Lindsay
Jeff Jackson - former State Secretary HSU, had to pay back $15,000 due to unauthorised pay increases
Kathy Jackson National Secretary HSU, ex-wife of Jeff Jackson, former State Secretary HSU
HSU members - Expected to pay up their dues to support the above plus Thomson and his mates raunchy exploits.
Does anyone really need to ask what's wrong with the union movement, the ALP or the country, because this senario is repeated through most unions, most state ALP offices, the national ALP and sitting members.
It's the system that coughs up people like Thomson, Swan, Albanese, Emerson and yes, Julia Gillard.
Unbelieveable!
The technical term is nepotism.
My old man got me a job with his connections so I 'spose that makes me a nepotist ![]()
Is there a technical term for it never having dawned on cisco that Labor and the unions are connected until he got that Liberal party email pointing it out for him?
so what, happens everywhere and has been going on since christ played fullback for jerusalem.
it the unions members money being thrown around like confetti that's the worry
Why don't ya reel off a list of Libs and their spouses/offspring that all line up to soak up the gravy?
Nah - don't spose you want to go there?![]()
How about Julia Bishop, shagged half the senior citizen members of Perth Lib party for a cruisy ride (ahem.. pun intended) into Lib safe seat of Churchlands here.![]()
![]()
Maybe that's not nepotism as such.. more poor taste (on the elderly chaps parts that is!!).![]()
Both sides are as bad as each other.
Neither represent the Australian community. I think there is only one member of federal parliament who was a tradesman before entering parliament. He is a DLP senator from Victoria and was a blacksmith. How many members of the parliamentary ALP had a job which involved getting their hands as opposed to their conscience dirty before they entered parliament?
It doesn't matter which side has the majority in parliament. They both stand for the same thing, themselves and the systems which allow their rule to continue.
Gillard and Abbott have more in common with each other than they do with the Australian community.
What are you going on about???? Politicians are never to be believed! Haven't you realized that yet??? They are Masters of Spin and outright Lies...e get the Governments we deserve. If people are prepared to vote without thought "Duh! I'm a laborer I must vote Labour".
BULL! Think about what is happening about you. Don't bleat how badly Parties are treating you. Party Politics will only get you Screwed. Look backwards at History
; Did not Ceaser give the people what they wanted " The Games"?? Did not Ceaser Divide and Connor Peoples??? Think about what is happening around you and vote accordingly. If the risk is needed then don't go near the Polling Booths
! Nah! Peoplwe are to self serving to take the risk. Me??? I shall tear the next sheet up and walk out!
We deserve what we get through Lazy Thinking. I am busy going spare at the Raw Deal Fathers are getting with their children because some Bloody Nasty Bitch decides she can tell out Courts what she likes "Purgery" and that Schmuck Judge takes her side.
Nah! "The Law is an ASS" Controlled by Donkeys.
Ron (And I am not ashamed nor Scared to apply my name)
PS; CISCO Don't start this Crap! I can't help myself.
What some people don't want to understand is that the Australian Labor Party is the political wing of the union movement.
The Australian Labor Party was founded by and for unionists to secure representation in government, and therefore to protect the interests of unionists and those sympathetic to the cause.
How can people be surprised that so many Labor Politicians have to cut their teeth in the union movement.
The nasty invective that is implied in the original post does nothing more than coveniently suppose that all union associations are corrupt and that its existence is all bad because of the selective use of information. It simply is not true.
Maybe a similar excercise for other associations in Australia - start with the National Farmers Federation for similar names in the National Party.
Oh hang on that wouldn't happen would it?![]()
Most people would know the ALP grew out of the trade union movement. The issue is how close the links are between the trade union leadership and the leadership of the ALP. Any analysis of leadership background would show there is an incredibly close link.
If similar analysis were conducted between the 'rank and file' union members and the union leadership, its probable there would be a huge gulf between the leaders and members backgrounds. There is probably a similar gulf between ALP membership and the leaders of the ALP.
The case of Craig Thomson is a case in point. I read the Wikipedia article about him. He has has a background of studying law and then becoming an advocate/leader in the HSU. At no point of time was he sweeping the corridors or cleaning up in a hospital. Thats not to say he was bad at his job. However it is to say the union leadership is not made up of working union members. Its probable most union leaders have similar backgrounds in that they never worked in the industry that they are advocates in.
Of course a similar criticism can be made of the Liberals/Nationals. Their MPs increasingly come from political staffer/lobyist/lawyer backgrounds. Fewer of them held jobs where they were not involved in politics before entering parliament. Abbott is a clear example of this trend. He was a political staffer before being preselected to a very safe Liberal seat.
So we have a system where political leaders are increasingly drawn from small segments of the population. We have a system where local MPs are increasingly selected by factions and party head quarters. We have a system where the people are becoming increasingly disassociated with politics, as witnessed by the huge decline in political party membership. Increasingly parties are being dominated by a few individuals, often unelected, who wield incredible power over our political system.
The answers to these problems are varied. An immediate solution would be for voters to vote against their sitting MP. This would stop the system of political patronage and actually get local MPs working for their local communities instead of making up the numbers in parliament and having a cushy job for life, or until its decided your safe seat belongs to someone else by your political master.
^^^^
I thought you'd like invective - surprised myself with that one.
Looks like I'm heading sowf this weekend, so no go for Sunday. But by all means get hold of a couple of union heavies to carry your board. Complete the picture by making sure that they are doing so whilst on strike until they get more than three flavours of icecream in the company dining room.
As for your beers, I drank them during the Freo / Bulldogs game
So will have to get some more - are you sure you don't really want some Chardonnay?![]()
Meanwhile, back at the big house Abbott's ratbaggery hits new levels:

BOTH sides of the party floor have refined nepotism to an art form. No wonder they have 'parties'!
If only we had parties who could:
effectively govern, keep the purse strings suitably tight (or loose if needed to avoid a depression
)
show some decency towards those that need a break (and are prepared to work for it too)
and not be afraid to educate the dumb masses when we need to make a tuff decision we would ALL be soo much better off.![]()
So why do we settle for 2nd 3rd - the rabble major parties we have got then![]()
It's that last point that's the sticker.. we don't want to be educated or wear any difficulty - so we vote for the one that peddled the lie that best suits our selfish desires.
Sheesh.![]()
Stoopid is as stoopid votes. ![]()
Nah.. to the charddy Diver.. I'm too down to Earth for that.
Make it some imported beers made by monks who germinate the hops from their holy crevaces.
