Acting as chauffeur to some of the younger guys on my crew, and somehow, these hilltop hoods are the headline act...
Maybe the appeal is lost on me, all I'm hearing is a heap of incoherent mumbling, the f word screamed into the microphone and everyone being told to put their hands in the air every half a minute....
Dunno you are on about Doc
, they have the most easily understandable lyrics of just about any rap act ever, very clever lyrics and a LOT less swearing than other.
Sure we are talking about the same HTH?
The music of the young is intended to offend the sensibilities of the old.
But as youth music goes HTH are right up - intelligent, creative and way above the banal rubbish that is the foundation of most contemporary music.
You're just old Doctor - listen
Or try Hilltop Hoods "1979"
In which they are lamenting how hiphop was better back in the day. Not a single f-bomb in there Doc, and even tells the other artists to stop promoting drugs and violence.
If your post was about 50 Cent or similar I could understand it - but not the 'hoods!
How about some Aussie Punk Rock Doctor?
Killer breakdowns and inspirational thought provoking lyrics about nasty Aussie wildlife!
So an apprentice made me listen to some of their tracks on his itunes, and whilst I can appreciate their lyrics in recorded form... I still don't think it cuts it live or as a head lined act.
Nor can I understand all their ' put your hands in the air' requests...
I mean, they didn't even say ' simon says'....
hmmmmmm, did you even happen to read the post at the top of the page...?
and maybe its cause you have only seen very few....
There is a DVD of the Hoods making The Calling watch it I think it may swing your views, They are a very clever mob and worth the attention.
