(1) Make all welfare payments an automatic payment of utilities (water, power etc) plus food stamps, with about $50 per fortnight of play money left over.... for beer / cigs etc.
Then if you get a court fine you lose the $50 per f/n play money until the fine is payed - unlike the current system where if you don't pay you get your licence suspended and the people who don't care just keep driving and accruing fines.
End result of my way - the kids get fed, and mum n dad don't have enough money for grog so hopefully the kids get a decent upbringing.

(2) immediately do an "essentials only budget" for Govt.
No $1mil per year for an arts festival that only 0.01% of the population attends. No more name changes for public utilities like power companies etc.
Remove the stupid rule where all newly built Govt buildings have to spend 1% of the budget on locally produced art (yes they really do!)
No more free million dollar properties and hundreds of brand new vehicles for indigenous corporations that make a huge loss and disappear within a couple of years .... and the actual disadvantaged indigenous get nothing.
Those kinds of things would save billions a year.

(3) make firearms ownership compulsory for all those people with no criminal record.
The Yank county that did that had a 95% reducion in serious crime overnight. Nobody does burglaries or robs old people when there is a really high chance of being shot.
Give back the power to the good people.

(4) remove the ridiculous singapore parity pricing of fuel and stop sending natural gas to china at 1c a litre.
Support industry so we don't send iron ore offshore and buy it back as steel at 100x the price.
A country that is completely self sufficient in fossil fuels, minerals and agriculture should be a world power not a backwater.

Make sure that fines issued are means tested. The curent method is biased to being insignifcant fines if you are rich. If you caught slightly speeding and get $150 fine and poor, that could be really bad news if that was your food money for the week. Caught speeding and you are minted and $150 means that you are going to just have to break into a new roll of notes.

Same crime, different punishment in my opinion.

Thoroughly investigate the nationalisation of state government. If it looked like being remotely feasible and wheels were set in motion, try and relax some ridiculous state laws on the way through...

That usually is proposed by the 'tothersiders not WA people........ seeing as though we carry the rest of the nation in many respects I think we still need state govt's to protect our interests
