Not being mean coolwind.

You see when kiting came to the masses, all of the intelligent, brave, and young at heart windsurfers switched over.

The other crusty old b*ggers declared themselves old dogs (no new tricks) and have been increasingly bitter about it ever since as they get older and grumpier.

You can't blame them, as kiters carry their gear in 1/4 the space, go faster, jump 15 times higher and further, set up and pack up in 1/2 the time, smell better, and are generally much cooler with the women.

After much heated discussion both groups have mostly retreated to their own spaces and 'shooting the breeze' has generally become a neutral ground where we can all happily discuss pm33's insanity together.

^^^^oh and you have forgot how funny kiters look. i do not wind surf or kite, yet when i head down to my local on a windy day,the only people that look like they know what they are doing and having fun are the windsurfers. They also seem to help each other out a fair bit as well.
The kite guys are getting smashed, dragged through carparks and all sorts off entertaining stacks and misfortune. Also kiters dont seem to help their fellow brothers to well i have noticed.
oh i live on the broadwater and i am still expecting some dickhead with all his nice stickers to come sailing through the air and smashing into the top floor off my house.
Finally i must say the kiters do look way cooler in the car park. Actually come to think of it,they seem to spend alot of time there

I was not doing much windsurfing when kiting became popular, I first saw kite surfing on the Gold Coast in 1998 and thought it was interesting but bloody dangerous. I was out of the loop after that. Anyway this is the story I heard about kiting from windsurfers who experienced the kiting boom.

For years some windsurfers struggled. They could not get that planing carve gybe. The chop hop was an impossible dream. They were in a rut. What to do?

"What about this new sport kitesurfing? You don't need to gybe, just start going the other way. You don't need to chop hop either, just boost, wow! All the cool wakeboard blokes are getting into it too. Its gotta be cool. Windsurfing sucks."

Any sport whose forum is such a disgrace, full of bickering rude pricks and borderline illiterate trolling 15 y/o's probably isn't doing such a good job of selling itself now.

Your dead right...... In the late 90's when you were still sucking on your mummas teet, a lot of crew did go kiting, some of the top guys to.
But being talented watermen they mastered it within a few years and went back to windsurfing and thier loving it more than ever, and ripping more than ever!

Ha ha ha

Kiters are car park Kings...

Come to think of it, I've noticed the same.

Kiters set up then hang around, chat and if the wind is not spot on, pack up and drive home!

See the same down at Frankston MX track.

People get out blinged up bikes (complete with racing numbers like 666 or 69), do 2 laps (either the easly loop or the brave take on the MX track) then sit around smoking ciggies looking at their dirty bikes for the rest of the day.

Car park heros....

Every sport has em!

Been windsurfing since 1975, gave tea bagging a try after I stopped windsurfing for 7-8 years, was a bad trip, learnt in 2 lessons flat and discovered that I had learnt all the moves................
Kiting = cheap way of wake boarding nothing more!

Ah you guys make me laugh.....

Have windsurfer for 31 years, and kited for 10 neither sport can be mastered in a couple of days as some here would suggest, you can push yourself everytime you go out or you can mow the lawn.

Going both ways is the only way you will ever have a healthy respect for each of the sports
