We've discussed using sick days when you're not sick, but what about those c**** who come in to work saying "I feel like cr**" and then 36hrs later you've got a headache, aches, coughing out disgusting yellow mucus... and to top it off on a weekend.
I think it should be socially acceptable to bash people who come to work feeling ill and infect other with their pathogen.
At least the Japanese wear face masks.
I kept telling my staff that they would be left by themselves when all the people they infected.
We even had 1 guy with a verified case of swine flu and another with a suspected come into the office nice and crook.
The guy who didn't have it went ballistic when he found out about the confirmed case as his wife was pregnant and he didn't want to take it home.
I went ballistic at both of the ignorant farks when they turned up into the office the first time looking like sh1t.
4 days later up in Karratha my boss has to fly home because he bed ridden with the bug I lasted 2 more days before I had to scuttle out of there.
All up they took out half the office (approx 20 people) within the next 2 weeks it put a whole lot of strain on the survivors left to carry the can.
If you are genuinely sick that's what your sick days are for
Unfortunately, you're contagious before you start feeling sick - staying at home is to help you recover more quickly.
My farker said "I've used up all my sick days" so he came in. I really feel like belting him now.
The Mrs has gone to buy flu stuff for herself, I wanted to go for a kite (it's on right now)... I've been on infusions and home remedies... Whiskey + Honey, AAKG, Vitamins, Iron Phosphate + Potassium Chloride, Chili...![]()
Some bosses and colleagues foster the idea if a sick day is taken when you have a bit of cold you are a bludger. My former boss was like this and had the attitude unless you are on death's door you should come to work. During the swine flu scare there was directive that went out at work if you had flu like symptoms you were to stay at home. My boss was not happy about it but he was also a stickler for the rules so he had to abide by the directive.
Totally agree with staying at home if you're sick. I work by myself...and expected to work in all manner of contageousness!
I dread heading to our main office for the one day a fortnight when I hear that one of the team are sick but at their desk.
In saying that, I've had 6hrs off sick in 2 & 1/2years. Previously as self-employed, can't remember having a day off crook in 14 years.
Lets take this in to the realms of fiction for a moment.
Suppose there's a real nasty virus going around... something that is causing deaths in the 100's.
What's your plan?
Not go to work, leave the city? If you left the city, could you came back?
Where a face mask?
Would you rely on government agencies to keep you safe, would you trust a vaccine?
Influenza vaccines are relatively safe, but small pox vaccines have a high degree of risk. Influenza vaccines are also a pot shot... so you might think you're safe when in fact you've weakened your immune system.
Personally if there's a confirmed epidemic overseas or nationally and there're confirmed deaths in the 1000's, I'm hitting the road... somewhere on the coast with few people.
face masks are totally useless as the bugs are so small they go through the fabric, just a feel good thing!
all office's should have a bubble, if you really want to work(or have to), sad bstrds, you should be put in the bubble and you can roll around in ya around germs, spew n poo
great entertainment, no one would ever come in sick again
