A question for those with some PC smarts (which I sadly lack 
)
I run my work day from Outlook calendar and as I’m out of the office for some time each day I need my mobile device to sync with Outlook.
This was fine when I had a Palm which ran a Microsoft product that was endorsed by the business I work for. When this unit failed I purchased an Iphone only to find that it was against company policy to sync this to my work PC 
No amount of discussion has changed this and I’m now looking for a method to do this which does not involve a physical connection or connection to anything like Gmail from the work PC .
Any solutions anyone?

Sorry Crazy, I posted the first link without realising fully what Buell was after.
My google thoughts went from "That should be easy" to "wtf?" to "You're SOL".
All the solutions I could find involved either a USB cable or google.

It must be how our management gets emails etc on their Blackberry's. Seems to work with the Iphone but I'm not sure of the mechanics of setting it up, also what cost are incurred and by whom.
An exchange server must be in place so I'm presumming that I only need to connect to it ?
See nebbian's post, you need a "push" server installed ie mobileme for any type of wireless sync. You will never get it working otherwise.
I'm going to guess that your IT department will never do that... one for cost and secondly it woudl then mean they need to learn to support iphones which having working in IT no one wants to do.
Far too often I see people go and purchase software or hardware without consultation with their IT department expecting they can or will support it. Unless you're a CEO forget it.
The company I work for allows blackberries and that's it - Having said that we're in Lotus land ( ) and not many cell manufactures support Lotus/Domino. I feel your pain.
I'd say ditch the iPhone at the end of the year and pick up a Windows 7 or Andriod phone both of which should support exchange in an easy to use way.
There a new iPhone coming out soon that might (and thats a big might) support exchange with out itunes - they'd be silly not to as there's a huge market share in buisness users there missing.
cRAZY Canuk, have had a read through the Microsoft exchange info and it appears to work without needing to install itunes on the work PC.
Will have a talk with the IT crew this week to see if it can be used
