Katter is a freemason and a reptillian,
Here's Katter and our friend Wayne Swan exchanging a secret freemason's handshake, and to top it all of... Check out Swans cuff links!
If nothing else, Bob Katter has stood by what he holds true and has now been elected to parliament. He got in with a massive majority so it must say something about what those in his electorate think of him. Remember Wilson Tuckey kept getting elected to the seat of O'Connor, despite his frequent brain fades - gone now though.
It will be pretty interesting if there is a Government formed in the lower house by a conservative coalition (led by the mad monk) and how they deal with a senate controlled by the Greens.
The independents and whoever they form govt with are going to have their work cut out for them.
Maybe a truer form of democracy is about to be delivered, where the wishes of the electorate are being considered more frequently than just on election day.
There has always been a few so called "nutters" that have a big fan base and continue to get elected.
The most famous would have to be another Queenslander, Premier Jo Bjelke Petersen. He had a real claim to the title of nutter 'cos if my memory serves me right he was a peanut farmer.
Most of the "nutters" are just colourful characters without a great deal of influence but for some reason Queenslanders seem to put a lot of faith in them and they end up with quite a bit of power!!
Jo was premier for a lot of years and The Ten Gallon Hat Man - Katter has been around for almost 30 years.
It's always a good idea to have a maverick or redneck to spice up the career pollies who just want to appease the rabble and show no real flair and leadership....![]()
Katter isn't a complete nutjob. Are the state boundaries set in stone? If people outside of the big capital cities feel as though they are neglected as all the state's resources go into the capital city, then isn't it fair enough to question what end of the stick they are holding? In NSW at least there has been one push to set up a new state that doesn't include NSW (Newcastle Sydney Wollongong)
I haven't been to the Kimberley but I've been to Perth, the NT and FNQ. I'd hazard a guess and say the issues facing people in the Kimberley are probably not much different to the issues facing people in the NT and FNQ.
I think the only mistake Katter made was in suggesting the state boundaries be redrawn. I think they should be rubbed out. Run the country via a national government and regional councils as they do in most other parts of the world. The regional councils, being regional, would be in much better touch with their local issues than some state government in the middle of a big city.
That'd be one less set of idiots in power, thereby saving ourselves all the pensions, elections, arguments, you name it. Win-win.
from memory i think katter was part of the peterson government? could be wrong.
anyways. as much as i wasn't a fan of joe's police state and even may have protested a few times, his government is fully responsible for moving qld forward and both sides of politics paid tribute to his vision.
his government stepped on a lot of toes and broke a lot of rules but they had a vision and they delivered it. no matter what. the infrustructure lasted qld for years.
as far as the redneck tag. that really shows a lack of understanding of what country qld is about.
