In all seriousness though - I think the fact that 3 or 4 independents decided the result is just disgraceful.
Even if the result was to my liking (ie coalition got in) I'd still think it is WRONG.
We should have gone back to the polls a week ago.
What has happened is completely contrary to democracy and I'd like to see a Constitutional lawyer expert type pull it apart and tell us if it is legal.

Probably should have gone back to the polls to get a decisive govt one way or another. Bet the Libs backers wouldn't be saying that if the monk had scrapped in tho.

Anyway you look at it - lets hope the circus on all sides can get on with it and actually SERVE US. That's their kn job after all, but you could be forgiven for thinking you had tuned into the X factor the way the idiots conduct themselves.

Yup, if it went back to the polls I'd vote the same way. So if anyone else wants a different result, they'd have to change their vote. Anyone volunteering???

I'm not a labour voter, but am pleased to see we at least have the privilege of voting for our valiant leaders.

Myself I find the current scenario quite interesting and actually have hope (I'm an optimist) that something might actually happen in parliament proactively rather than simply following party lines or public opinion polls

I agree about the idea that the informal voters and the people voting for the Greens
might rethink, but maybe not in the way you are thinking. I suspect that some usual
Labor voters tried to punish the Labor government by voting for the Greens, and
were probably a bit uneasy about the last couple of weeks.

It's not like the Greens hid their intended support of Labor, and who really thought
the Greens would have enough votes to form their own government. So who that
voted for the Greens really expected anything else?

I don't blame the independents for bargaining for all they can, and they seem to
have shown some restraint based on reality.

It is a good chance to get some focus on your own electorate, and would force
whichever government they went with to show a bit more openness. Now the
back-room dealers will have to consider that they can't just make unilateral
decisions, and hopefully the independents will exercise some control and restraint.

Either way, lets hope we can forget the last few weeks and get back to a
government doing something...

I voted green and am happy with the result , i wanted a government that will

do something for Australia, I think the result is the first step this country

has taken forward in 20 odd years. We may be starting to get real

representation for all people in Australia, which includes rural and remote

You do realize that its the country conservative independents that are the ones that have brought this ideology into political play "inclusive"...

do you also realize its the leverage on the labor party as to why they where selected over the liberals... they (the independents ) stated they chose the party most likely to loose an early election if they went back to the polls, that tells me their is more leverage for the independants... remember all pollies are poll driven .. hence why Kevin the dud rudd got the boot and why Julia will bend over back wards for the independants... if your looking for political utopia .. it isnt here!

personally I'm pleased labor got to power even if i lean toward libs.. not because i think tony is a mad monk , i think he performed out standing in this election and as a prime minister would grow into this role. i was not keen on him at the start but like the dude more now than before as i was negatively influenced due to the media preconceptions ......im happy because of the leverage the country conservatives have over labour... long term i think labors in for a whole lot of pain in executing policy even with greens in the senate.

i always liked the idea of the broadband network even if i dislike the method of delivery being government money backed, i just see the costs being blown out big time with labors previous form... they just cant handle budgets and money like the
libs.. and its a percentage of my money through taxation that i have concerns of being wasted by crap management.

Thank fk Wilson 'Redknek bar' Tuckey has finally been ousted. A true redkneck, he makes Katter seem like an always well considered, forward thinking friend to people of all persuasions. Katter's not so bad - he just needs a looser hat.

For those that just can't quite suck up the results, my money is we'll be back at the polls in 18mths max anyway. The ALP will be blamed for the fiasco (not both parties for giving as fk all choice in the first place)
and then we can just settle in for sweeping changes like a priest in every classroom, greater indocrination from a non-secular background and great inovations like that.

Please - if there actually is a God (or Dog ) smite your false profit the mad monk and give us a not-so-freakin-scary choice like Turnbull next time.

At least with Gilard in we will get the promise of faster internet, that she doesn't have the money to provide. But she will deliver, more tax for everyone, higher prices at the shops for your groceries, higher price of fuel.

But at least we will get our internet in about 10years, not that we will be allowed to use it with her censored internet. She will probably ban SB if they dont follow her dictatorship.
