With the continued absence of a kayaking forum, I'll ask here.
Myself and mates were going to paddle Redhead to Port Stephens in a day tomorrow, but with the continued forecast suggesting a 5 to 6m swell, we thought we would stay off the ocean and paddle the length of Lake Macquarie instead.
Is the southern-most point Chain Valley Bay.
Is the northern-most point Lake Macquarie Park at Cockle Bay at Speers Point?
Can we launch on sand or a boat ramp at the end of Mulloway Rd, off Chain Valley Bay Rd? Same with finish point - is there sand to land on with 'glass boats?
not 2 sure about chain valley bay but .. if u chose to launch from wyee point marina it would be a slightly shorter distance but u could launch straigh of the side of a low lying jetty ...for a landing . teralbah sailing club would be out of the wind .. it is a pebble beach ..created my the local council
If you end up in the Swan River, then it was windier than what you thought it was going to be.
Yay! Great day - though cold, paddling what we think are Lake Macquarie's southern-most to northern most points in a day. Seemed apt that a lot of our chat was about ice climbing at Blue Lake in the very near future.
Coming ashore three times en-route could explain our unremarkable time though...
