Same, but is to the north of the township. But is it worth the risk?

Awesome sight. I have seen one huge mutha split the line up at Strickos years ago. Only four of us out. We all became jesus walking on water. I have seen a few biteys over the years but nothing like the one we saw that day. And we wondered why noone else was out when we got there.

Only had a run in with the Great White twice. Once at Cott (they then closed the beach after it swam under us) and once at Redgate down south as it swam all around us destroying a school of migrating salmon.

Im thankfull that I have never seen one while surfing. Seen millions of dolphins and a few whales but no sharks.

Was surfing Rotto last weekend and it was on my mind for sure

...and in our cases, a good upper body workout while you get out of the water fast.

Well you would think the bities would stay around the whale carcass and not be interested in unsavoury human beans

I would have thought that Lancelin would be fairly safe from shark attacks with all that meat available! It's the buggers that are looking for a feed that I would worry about

I agree. Years ago when I was involved in tuna fishing in the bight we were anchoured behind St Francis island and the Japs were their with procesing vessels throwing tons of tuna heads and guts over the side. At least one big pointer was hanging around. The crew thought I was totally crazy sailboarding their with that going on. My reasoning was any shark would probably be that full it could barely swim so I enjoyed the session feeling safer than I normally would.

^Logic see

Spent many years in Africa and memorable times in game reserves etc.. The lions and other meat eaters you see around a kill are the safe ones. It is the hungry ones you have to worry about.

I agree with the theory but I think the irrational side of me would win the argument .
