I used to think I'd do it.

But since giving up smoking I'd just prefer to be dead and left in peace.

It's kind of good for Derryn Hinch to have his liver transplant and to keep prattleling on for a few more years about pedophiles.

But if I was dead and I knew that my liver was going to him - I'd definitely say - leave me alone.

Why does the fact you have given up smoking make you change your mind on being an organ doner???

Good on ya for kicking the butts.I have done the same.Has been about 5 months I think,,,not sure,,,,,,cant even imagin why I use to smoke a pack a day for 20 years.
Anyone that still sucks on the dirty butts,..........give them up,,,they are only killing you.If you love life and are happy with life,,,,there is no reason to smoke,,,,,smoking is just a slow form of suicide that the government makes a fortune out of you every year.

I don't think I will be in a position to say yes or no when the time comes, so I will go 'yes' for the moment. (Finally maybe someone will want me? Brain transplant any liberal voters?)

Just imagine if there was someone worthwhile waiting for a liver and then Derryn snuck in and got the last one on the list? Without your pristine example, what would they do?

Imagine if that same worthwhile person was you that needed one?

I used to worry about this until I realised I won't really care at the time of donation.

Yeah if it was some kid with eye cancer - yeah sure, I'd be happy to give him my liver.

But if I died and my liver went to Derryn Hinch I'd be pissed, and would do everything in my power as a ghost to jinx him.

Yeah with this looming recession coming on I can see where you are coming from.

I wonder how much you'ld get for your liver?

I would sell a kidney - I think I have two of them.

You don't want to sell your liver - just check with a doctor that you have another one before you put it on ebay.com

I don't think anyone has two livers - google it.

having donated blood 75+ times, back in the early days i Reckon there would have been a number of people who were recipients of those donations discovering things that they might not have experienced before, now the blood is relatively pure, I kinda like the idea of the social aspect and to donate organs is the next step but they will have to wait a little bit longer

I think that's a great a great idea - let's build thousands of nursing homes and bring in millions of unqualified people who can't speak english, so thousands of really really old people, who shouldn't otherwise be here, can get to smell a rose for 40 more years than they normally should.

What a brilliant idea!

75+ times? Now that takes some effort. I have only gone back to it after a break of a few years.

I shudder when I think of all those poor people out there that are coming over all left-wing and have no say in it Is political persuasion a blood borne disease? Maybe they screened my blood and rejected it?

I don't understand what is wrong with dying when you're supposed to. Why is it that some people can't accept when their time is up?

Hey Lotofwind,

I usually ask people that give up the butts a simple question when I hear how long they have been off them.

"Why are you counting?"

A simple aid in keeping off the butts is to change your identity. Currently, you as most people do, refer to yourself as an ex-smoker. An ex-smoker, may stray back to them.

Instead, see yourself as a non-smoker. The difference is, a non-smoker woud never even think about lighting up a ciggy.

It's a simple change but has far reaching impact.

Good onya

Since giving up cigarettes I reckon I'm losing the plot. It's changed me in lots of ways. I was kind of hoping it's just a phase, but I'm not so sure.

I am having negative thoughts and I'm finding that I am eating and drinking more and with less enjoyment. I seem to have a lot more anger and am less tolerant than I used to be. I really should do something about it - maybe just burn up this tension/frustration with exercise.

I was listening to the news the other night and they said that champex can have strange side affects, like I'm having. People who've used it to give up also have said similar things.

I just went cold turkey so the side affects I'm having must be more to do with kicking the habit.

Cheers DM,
Im not actual counting how long its been,
Im guessing 5 months,,cant remember when I stoped but know it was at the start of the year sometime.
Totally agree with the "Im a non-smoker" mind set.
I tried to quit so many times over the last 5years but always failed,
never thought I would ever get off them,
This time I just went cold turkey,
the first week or 2 sucked,
now I never even think about it.
Its like I have pretty much forgotten that I even use to do it???
Dont know why I found it imposable to give up ,then all of a sudden it was really easy and now cant even handle the smell of dirty butt burning.
Happy days.
I am eating heaps more but only because I have discovered how good food tastes when you can actually taste it.
I have lost 10kg though, as I am way more active and full of energy.
I havent had this much energy since I was 16.

Imagine the can of worms in selling !!

The "Old & Rich" pay the highest price.... but get the least amount of use.... hmmmm That would be free market ???

Perhaps a set price would be best. Proceeds go into your will / or go to next of kin / relatives... I think that would be a BETTER system. Make people really think about it....

Here's some price setting, what do you think ! ....
Eye lens (cornia) - $250
Heart - $10,000
Lungs - $10,000
Liver $5,000
1 Kidney - $2,500
Face - $5,000 (or $1,000?)
Hand - 1,000

$30,000 or so would be a reasonable price..... Just throwing it out there.....

it wont kill you, but the hot chemo smoke in your lungs will ! [}:)]
