It is not about "Thrill Seeking". It is about "Humanity Moving Forward".
The only thing holding us back is the current world political system.

Strange that nobody want to live on the Moon, but isn't it the obvious choice to colonize first the closest easiest to reach celestial body.
Then get some experience and move to next one?
I will not be surprised if one day Chinese (because is the only ambitious and capable nation at the time ) will land on the Moon , build few barracks, and start permanent habitats.
Unlike Mars this is technically possible right now, reasonable cheap.
At least on Mars there are no other species for us to treat like sh!t

I hope that this time with all this social media etc will be quite difficult for NASA to fake Mars landing.
Even if task could be easier since there is bigger gravity that Moon and atmosphere to effect dropping dust.
Even scenery could be taken straight from our iron ore mines with excellent red background and not many other futures.
They could already claim credit for building roads on Mars for further development
and get this way extra funds.
