ok this is the last time i ask for advice for a while but im looking at getting a new car for work as the clutch went in my old lil mazda bravo. The mechanic said i need something bigger like a fourby to take the load of carrying gear.(im a chippy) any suggestions would be great!
My brother in law has just bought one to use to cart all his electricians gear around in and has since found that he is having to ride the clutch to take off due to a "too tall" first gear. He's had some other owners tell him of their concerns of the same issue.
I'm pretty sure he was told (after he got his of course) that at least one of the owners has had to get the clutch repaired.
Ask around a bit 'cos if you're carting a lot of gear around the last thing you want is to have to slip the clutch around town....![]()
Good luck.
Mazdas are great cars, my wife has one. We love it.
For a work truck though you can't go past a Hilux. New or used, easy to maintain, holds resale price and made to do the job you want it to. Not Australias #1 by accident, most people have owned one and never had any probs and usually regret selling it to replace it with something newer from another company that breaks far more often.
Wish I could afford one.
I have a 2010 BT-50. Pretty impressed so far. Great fuel consumption for a 4x4. I think you would have to be towing a lot of weight to have clutch problems. The engine has loads of torque and I don't need to slip the clutch at all with my trailer even with the ute loaded up.
The hilux may be the pick of them but its way over priced for me. You even pay for aircon
. It was going to cost me an extra $15K on a single cab. Not worth it.
The best thing to get with any of the current diesel utes would be the auto box. Also remember that the mazda and the ford are from the same factory with a small body work change between them. Both are very good trucks.
I wouldnt look at the hilux due to its over inflated purchase price. It has the worst interior finish of them all and one of the lowest towing capacitys. I have used a ford ranger to tow 2800 kg which it did but not easily, an auto box would have been great but as it was a company car who worrys about a bit of clutch any way!
^^^ agreed
Personel thing but i tried them all, dual cabs manual and auto, also chipie w/trailer at the time
Ended up between the BT50 and the Navara just prefered the look of the Nav(08)
The Hilux is way,way overpriced and i rekon they drive like **** especialy the auto
Fair while ago now but I got sucked in to all the hype and bought a brand new hilux. Big mistake. Worst pile of crap ever. Got recalled 5 times in the first year. Gutless thing just fell to bits. Had Mazdas ever since. Having a much better run.
