A whole bunch of us are about to give you all kinds of suggestions. Many may revolve around the choice of sport ![]()
Maybe try the kite forum.![]()
there are about 15 instructors at each school so its a lucky dip who you get.
All schools are good, you should be fine with anyone. Perhaps you can ask for a more senior instructor if you are older, or a girl if you prefer etc....
Good idea to split into 2 days, 5 hrs is standard.
If you really want to be a kite surfer: practice on a trainer kite loadsssss before your lessons.
Most schools will let u use one for free or buy any kite that has 2 lines (about $20 from kmart)
Make sure its a 2 line kite for stunts. If you can master it , you are halfway to kiteboarding.
5 Hours too much , yeah.
You'll end up being totally rooted after about 1.5 hours. Mainly because you are trying to do something physically you aren't used to and you will get mentally tired trying to remember it all.
2- 2.5 hours at a time was and is enough for me.
hey there. i did 6hrs with go kite at st kilda. they're a great bunch of guys and really helpful. i was up and riding in my 3rd 2hr session. my instructor was ryan - super friendly and a great instructor.
although i have seen people who pick it up really quick.
my advice would be to break it into 3 parts..
kite safety and control,
body dragging,
water start (on a board)
..makes no sense for you to go to the next stage unless you have at least gotten a grasp of the first. you have to be confident with kite control and body dragging upwind.
