Typical of the Fairfax press.
More alarmist propaganda from the left. ![]()
From an expert on Sea Levels and the Maldives:
www.climatechangefacts.info/ClimateChangeDocuments/NilsAxelMornerinterview.pdf
Imagine if a modern human civilization existed about 10,000 years ago in the middle of the last ice age or whenever it was. The ones who wanted to control society would be pushing the tax and spend agenda to save all the islands and coastal areas that were threatened by rising sea levels due to global warming. Meanwhile they would be flying in private jets to attend the latest meeting over rising temperatures.
Islands appear and disappear in the ocean all the time. The rest of the world shouldn't have to change their society and become enslaved to a static climate for the sake of a those who choose or end up living close to the water. Bangladesh is promoted as an example of a country at risk of climate change. Of course any country whose lands consist of a river delta is always at risk of storms and floods.
Kind of hard to ask 2 billion Indian and Chinese people to change their ways for such islands. Especially when the Western world did exactly the same thing as it developed... Don't get me wrong, it is horrible to see such beautiful places disappear, but the western world alone (i.e. EU, US etc.) will never be able to compete with the industrial growth of developing nations, let alone reverse the effects of sea level rise!
Maldives????? get to see it before it goes
A typical looney left alarmist attention getter.
