How could you be so cynical Gizmo?? Or did you mean to say "chooks" instead of "books", meaning us, the average punter???

That nose and those wingnuts would be OH & S issues around anything flamable.
Don't reckon the budgies would be ok near the deep fryere either. ![]()
Let's see either of them approach a shopping centre (with no prep or minders to help) and make a meal for four on a $20 budget (and here's the kicker) that actually has the essential food groups represented in appropraite quantities and manages to be tasty.
Hell - my wifey (and I) manages it most days so maybe she should elbow the two pretenders out of the way.![]()
It pizzes me of the Master Chavs don't EVER present healthy options. Any fkwit can drown an average morsel in a litre of olive oil squeezed by virgin hooters or deepfry in exotic cheese batter etc. But preparing a HEALTHY meal that is interesting, tasty and nutritious for kids and adults, now that takes some @rse.
Btw, bloody embarrassing and a new low for the electoral IQ that MC didn't move and the talking heads had to move.
I think George has tourettes.
His ticks are wicked, he just needs to swear inappropriately and the ratings would go berko
Listen to both leaders to give their recipe for the humble pie that each would serve up if either get to lead the nation - no thanks.
IMHO I reckon that it is fair enough that the debate was moved for MC.
OK MC is pretty much a marketing exercise and it wouldn't be anywhere near the time slot that it has got unless it was getting the ratings. But isn't the leaders' debate a marketing exercise as well![]()
The leaders can stand and put their platitudes foward via a debate that has a worm telling us how a group of people think that each are going, after getting asked a series of questions by a baby boomers like Laurie Oakes. Rivetting stuff ![]()
Or watch a group of gen x's and y's doing something that obviously a lot of people in Australia find interesting and like viewing. I reckon the people are voting with their feet on this one.
If there was a long standing sporting event scheduled for that time you'd bet that the same would apply.
Er.. Diver the diff with the sporting event is that it would be live - whereas the current series of MC was filmed nearly 6 months ago.
I only realised when a friend told me she was driving the forklift onto the set (loaded with seafood) back in Feb and that aired only a mopnth or so ago.
So in fact it would be pizz easy for TEN to re-schedule.
I think the fact the TV network had to move the debate so Masterchef would not interfere is because they are the same!
Both Masterchef and the election:
Are amateurs seeking to win for their own personal gratification and glory
Serve up what they think we want, even if it is not good for us, so they get voted in
Worth a lot of money to the winner for doing ****-all really
add......?
Point taken Funky.
There is very little about MC that is actually "live". It would all be "done and dusted" by now and the punter really is just getting pumped up to watch a series of ads with a bit of cooking thrown in.
Ten couldn't reschedule given the amount of very expensive air time that would have been pre-sold to advertisers for that time slot. Coles, Virgin, Sunbeam and others would crucify the producers and Ten if they didn't deliver. The deals would have been stitched up long before the contestants even arrived at the house - full time - in January.
MC final time slot just wouldn't be moved at such short notice.
Cynically, I reckon that the debate has been called for this Sunday as Julia wants to get it over and done with and for it to be swamped by some other big non-related event. A bit like November interest rate announcements on Melbourne Cup Day.
If you want a really good read on popular tv Ben Elton's Chart Throb is a cracker.
I challenge anyone to watch a reality show after reading it.
My young blokes son was involved in Farmer Wants a Wife or some such. Pure unadulterated visual manure aimed at keeping the population dumbed down. Very successfully!
