Just wondering what peoples thoughts were regarding the media essentially plagiarising posts on the forum to fill in space and call for tighter restrictions? By sharing our experience could we be contributing to eventual doom through tigher restrictions and loss of personal freedom?

As an active user on motorcycle forums, I've become used to the police scanning posts for information and using it to justify heavy handed actions. If the journos are pulling stuff of these forums, how long till the wowsers start calling for new laws to "protect" us from taking personal responsibility and making our own choices on the water?
News is regularly breaking on Face Book, My Space, Twitter etc before the "journos" get a look in.
So this probably means "journos" have become an endangered species or better still a dying breed.
Anybody who lives by the creed "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.", should have their tongues cut out and fingers chopped off.
With this story having been highjacked off the forum and the cufuffle that has happened over another marathon type journey being proposed in the land yachting section it might be wise for the moderators and forum owners to review their legal positions at this point in time.
Quote from The Age April 25
"When he finally reached the market, he struck further problems."
That's strange. I read the original article fairly carefully and I don't remember him going to the market.
Was there another episode that I missed?
is the same with regional tv and radio.
Am always seeing adds saying send us your pics etc and snippetts
lazy journalism
Newspaper journalists are an endangered species - this article is another example of why. If you put the original post back to back with the article - I know what I'd rather be reading. Ask anyone under 25 if they would buy a newspaper.
Im not sure crisco is the same as them using face book to find mug shots of people.
I dont think there is copy wright protection on the internet.
At least they accredited there source which was SEABREESE!!!!!
Mabe the journo is a forum user or mabe someone googled it to see what the rescue was about?
im not sure who would be accountable if someone died and if the event was and pubically posted would there have to be like public liability?
There was a similar post on the kite forums i read a while back ill see if i can dig it up
