The Cup is the only time I bet.
Every year I go thru the tips and make up 4 different trifectas with the horses most people are tipping. And every year I get 1-2-3 but in the wrong order, or 1-2 on one ticket an 3 on another ticket. Every year I spend $20 and could make $2000 but don't.
EDIT - this year I would have made about $30K off one of my Tri's [}:)]
I can't imagine anyone who bets daily what a crap hobby (addiction)
Can't be bothered , what a waste of time and money,
day off work= -$500 to $600
drinks at pub = $1oo +
food = $30- $50
headace the next day causing lost productivity = Who knows??
It's just not a viable propasition
I would rather work and have a day off with my wife when you lot are all at work
A racehorse is a majestic creature doing what it loves to do. A few slaps with a leather spatula is there to keep his mind on the job, its hardly going to damage him.
Check out the winner of this years cup after the race, look at his head and his bearing - he is saying ' look how great I am I beat all you suckers'. There is nothing more graceful or beautiful than a thoroughbred in full flight - barbaric! the colosseum was barbaric. 
Forget the horses, I hate the jockeys.
Small self-imortant people who think that they have talent when really all they need to do is look deformed and anorexic and sit on a champion horse whipping it and then taking all the credit.
