Sad news overnight with Molly in hospital with head injuries from a fall at his Richmond pad, a true legend of the Music Industry and a generous ,nice bloke, grew up watching Countdown on a Sunday night, the show was about the only way of knowing what was happening in Australian music as a kid, all the best for a 100% recovery

Firstly of course I feel for the bloke but this incident has highlighted to me (not that it needed to) the superficial bull**** society we live in now. Is Molly falling of a bloody ladder, or down stairs really worthy of 1st story reporting on the major national news (even ABC) to the extent of having a live cross to someone outside the hospital who effectively said "yeah we know nothing"? Half the world is in the ****ter, the govt. is teetering on the brink of full blown farce and this is the number one story...I hold little hope for the future.

/of course I don't intend to cause offence by the above, just an observation.

I agree about the comment there more pertinent issues and i agree with weiry that all the talk of eurogeddon etc etc but here in a nation where some horse race stops a nation to have a Knockabout bloke like Molly and what has happened brings life back to a personal perspective that sometime we need to be in contact with a little more rather than being corporationalized all the time......... I made that word up but it works

For some reason I have a vision of Donnie Sutherland and Richard Wilkins rubbing their hands thinking - here's my big chance, while punching into their twitter accounts: #LoveYouMolly

I agree to a point, it always bugs me when so much hoohaa is made of someone going leg up when really some poor bastard is falling off his perch somewhere all the time and who will be missed by every one who knows them.

But then, Molly is Molly and all us old farts grew up with him and Countdown, he's had such an impact, I hope he bounces back up

Bulldog,

Do you remember Sounds - it was a really bad music show hosted by Donnie Sutherland in the 70's.

And stupid Richard Wilkins - he was this twatt who always used to turn up on TV talking about celebrities - like he knew something.

There are some other music aficionados making the rounds now, like that pillock - Glen A Baker - you must know that fat arsed authority on popular music who wears a Nepalese berret as his trademark. I hear him on the radio coming out with the most retarded nick nacks. He makes me want to smash my radio to little bits..

I think the point I was making was that who could ever replace him - if he goes?

Molly was apparently booked to appear at my work Xmas party on friday night. Obviously he did not attend, however the MC had the crowd (1000+) shout "Do yourself a favor, get well soon". This was filmed/recorded and sent to Molly...

Would have been appropriate for Molly to have been there given the bands/performers that were there...

^^^ Yabulu Nickel Refinery

The boss (Clive Palmer) bought the place off BHPBilliton for a song when BHP could not make it profitable and were going to close the place. Since then he/we have turned things around and made good money in the first year (not so much now with low nickel prices). I think Clive likes to stick it up BHP by throwing the best parties ever from the profits of a plant that BHP were going to close.

As well as the party, he is paying for each of us to take our families out to dinner.
Last year he gave cars to some employees and holidays to the rest (5 nights in Fiji for everyone with >6 months service)
Google "Clive Palmer" and "Yabulu"

has he helped you through times of crisis. Has a supposed aussie icon just because he is a media personality made such a difference to the lives of everyday australians that he deserves front page news or major headlines on the evening news ? No he doesn't . But that's the media for you .

I assume if he drops dead you'll go and have a candle light vigil outside his residence constantly pouring out tears and how he has touched your soul so deeply ?

He's just a journalist and tv presenter . Not like he is a fred hollows or victor chang .

sorry but i missed the part where he was more than a journalist/tv presenter and we should all be deeply concerned for his recovery .

where does my crack habit have any relevance to a tv presenter as that is basically what he is .

Never said i hoped he dropped dead but at a loss as to why everyone is showing such an outpouring of emotion for someone who simply presented a music show and pimped someone's cd on a variety show for a few years .

PS it's spelt you're . I might have a crack habit but at least i passed basic engrish
