So today I scratched the front right hand side of my navara d40 stx king cab so it matches the ding in the left side and thought it might be time I get a bull bar so I know longer have to worry about front end dings / scratches. However when looking at certain pipe bars I was informed that they are illegal and would void my insurance? If anyone has any recommendations of ways to get around this it would be great or recommendations on certain bars that would suit for mainly beach driving.

light but strong )

I drive on the beach a bit, never seen a bull yet

Sorry, could not resist that.

Look at factory supplied bars as they are designed to work with the air bags etc.

Probably they don't like it as it is not airbag compatible.

The factory ones are compatible, but usually are so flimsy they are a joke. They fold back and do more panel damage than if you sconned the roo with no bar I have seen ones I can flex by pushing on them.
Plus the price for genuine is a bit extreme usually.

Get a reputable steel winch bar like ARB etc, they are about the only thing that will actually protect the vehicle and also be airbag compatible.

But I do wonder why you want one when beach driving doesn't damage a front bumper

Bonnets these days are designed to be pedestrian friendly. If you're unlucky enough to hit a drunk, ( yes I know it would be his fault) the curves are smooth and they also require a certain clearance between the bonnet and hard engine parts so there's a bit of flex. A bullbar is like a cheese greater when it comes to body parts. A bull bar could be the difference between a broken-boned drunk and a dead drunk. Drive carefully, and if you do bend something - it's only a car.

The bar you have pictured is an XROX bar which is airbag compatible, I know a few people with them. They are an awesome bar and very strong and look awesome.

I know that these bars are not the best looking going around, but I think they pass the tight bar laws in the east.
They are pedestrian friendly(as if any contact from a car can be!!), and actually rate very good for impacts and are quite light so they wont disturb your front suspension like a steel bar will(ARB/TJM).

It is needed as the bar affords no protection from animals except for the centre 25%

The reason I mentioned beach driving is the fact i dont want the front weighed down by a massive steel bull bar which is going to in turn make my front end shocks bottom out all the time. I wont be hunting for bulls on the beach especially seeing as large animals with small round feet generally don't like soft sand as there fat arses sink.

^^^^ a steel bar fitted properly will involve winding up the torsion bars to acheive same clearance and shocks not bottoming.
The pipe bars do seem a bit wanky as they don't stop animal strikes - all they are is a spottie mount that looks tuff

why not just fit an airbag system to the front of the car and it activates milliseconds before impact....I can see a roo being air born
