Impressive, but I think the numbers must be wrong:

678,000,000 million from the federal and state governments? That's 678,000 Billion dollars, or 678 trillion dollars.

3,822,000,000 billion from the private sector? That's 3,822,000,000,000,000,000 AUD?

Wow, if they can get that sort of money, I am all for it. That should fund the country for a while. Everyone here can have a couple of billion dollars each, and we will all be laughing...

My young bloke was watching it over my shoulder and commented on alot also, damn spelling nazis. I was at Oakagee the same day Barnett was in town, the day after the 4 mtr swell. It would have been interesting pushing a rock wall out that day.

The short story is: They (they being the iron ore miners, the gov and anyone else who stands to make a buck or exploit it in some way) want to build a big arse deep water port from scratch with all the associated infrastructure in a questionable location which happens to be Oakagee. The opposition to this port is a hand full of greenies and windsurfers mostly because it has a nice little left hander that is going to be lost for ever. The other 90% of the local population either don't care because they have never been to Oakagee or believe there will be jobs for everyone,gold paved roads and development is good.

I agree completely but if you look at from the viewpoint of the "investors" it has no bearing on the fact that a dollar will be turned over.

I posted last night about my mate who makes heavy duty springs for trains, leastways he is the maintenance manager for a company that does. They are replacing them on chinese coal carriages imported from china. They buy our coal but we have to buy their carriages.

It is irrelevant that they are ****ed And now they are talking about buying the railway!!!!!!!!!!!!

You only have to look at the infrastructure in africa which was installed but never espected to work. Have a look at some of the massive power installations in the Congo that fizzled before the lit a bulb. Likely that some of your money went into those too.

It never ceases to amaze me that we send all the raw ingredients for steel overseas and buy back crap quality at a premium.

The people who come up with this sort of crap have not a care in the world what impact it will have on you, on the environement or on your country. Keep up the good work Buz
