Quick non related watersport question. I have a 1996 Mitsubishi Magna that runs well, has a few dents and all internal electrics work. I don't need it any longer and I'm not sure if I can be "bothered" trying to sell it un-registered.

What do people normally do in this situations - call "Scrap a Car", chuck it on ebay?

Any ideas gratefully recieved as it's the first car I've ever thought about scrapping.

Cheers

Chuck it on Ebay or in the trading post for a few hundred and see what happens.
if you get no interest call a wrecker. They'll come pick it up and give ya a few $$$ for it.

I bought my first car a Datsun 1200 for $100 with 3 months rego. The very last day at my job it broke down out the front, I didnt give two hoots it had served its purpose. There happened to be a wrecker shop next door, knocked on his door, he looked at it said mate I can only give you $80 for it, SOLD!
My next car was the same model, $800 with 12 months rego , it broke down out the front of my house 11 months later, some guy offered to take it away for $35. SOLD

Thanks. Called a car wreckers and they offered to take it off my hands for $250. Covers the reverse sensors for my new ride!

Might try ebay though.

What shape is it? The middle Magna shape or the later one thats a big bigger?

If its running fine you should get more than $250 for it as a vehicle that is running is worth more than that. It should be worth around $1000. A friend of mine recently sold his 1993 Falcon. It was in good condition and he sold it for $800. Perhaps check Carsales and see what comparable cars are going for.

make sure you go and fill in adisposal of vehicle form when it goes, somebody could use it for say a" hit and run " and its still your car and your responibility
had it happen to me where new owner didnt send in paperwork , he sold it on to somebody who crashed it into a pole and I got the bill for the pole

Put an ad on Gumtree, it's free and has lots of people looking for cheap cars on it. Probably get a decent amount from someone who tidies cars up and on-sells them

Hadn't thought of gumtree - thanks.

Will see if I can get a bit more money for it as it runs really well.

If there is nothing wrong with and you can be bothered get a 6 mth rego and green slip for $350 ish and then you should easily get $1000 for it - especially with the backpacker market starting to fire around this time.

Give it to a 16 year old as their first car.
