It seems that if you do recycle, buy local, drive a hybrid etc., then you're more likely to be a bit of a b@stard!

I can only speak for myself when I say that I haven't stolen anything since Tuesday.
On the subject of morals and ethics:
Play McDonalds the video game:

Unfortunately the business still goes bankrupt under my ruthless and unethical management style.
Does anybody have any tips for success?
Expert from Trants story
"" The pair found that those in their study who bought green products appeared less willing to share with others a set amount of money than those who bought conventional products. When the green consumers were given the chance to boost their money by cheating on a computer game and then given the opportunity to lie about it – in other words, steal – they did, while the conventional consumers did not. Later, in an honour system in which participants were asked to take money from an envelope to pay themselves their spoils, the greens were six times more likely to steal than the conventionals. ""
Thats probably because going GREEN costs more than your conventional items, and they probably feel they want to re coop some money. ![]()
I just skimmed the research paper. It's a great piece of research! (Psychological Science is a top-ranked academic psychology journal).
The study does NOT show that greenies are permanently bastards.
It shows that after thinking about green products, people become nicer. But after actually buying a green product, people temporarily become more bastardish.
Something like "I've done my bit. The world f'n owes me."
Weird, huh?
Interesting, they always leave stuff out the newspapers.
I wonder if it's related to the fact that the Green product is probably more expensive than you would normally pay? (i.e. The consumer subconsciously feels he's been conned)
'tis weird indeed. ![]()
